Stopped in while checking out the little town and was greated by a very nice young lady working behind the counter who had a great attitude and sense of humor. It was great visiting with her and seeing the little store.

We found this little store by chance, as on our way to Grand Canyon we wanted to see some little non-touristy places. This store is very cute, the lady at the counter is very friendly. Great local souvenirs!

The store is under new ownership and was remodeled extensively. Still with a quaint character, it now feels open and airy. Very friendly staff, food staples, and souvenirs. Local produce on Fridays and Saturdays.

Great convenient market. Stop for refreshments and inquired about the murals and if my vehicle could make it. Luckily the attendant working was able to assure me that I would be able to get there safely. She was very nice and I was grateful for her help. They also have a cool little miniature version of the towns buildings in front of shop. Will stop by again if ever in the area.

I've always been treated well here. All the basic foods for survival, plus candy, chips, snack cakes, soda, beer, smokes... Tchotchkes (Google it) for the tourists or locals who are into these things. Useful little gadgets, too. Accepts EBT and Debit cards. Many people would not survive without this market in Chloride (20+ miles from major grocery stores).

I've read some snarky reviews about the Mine Shaft on other Review sites. Please permit me to provide some explanations. Yes. The owner sometimes does close the store to walk his dog. This is because the dog needs to be walked & the owner has no one else to help him on these occasions. Please be understanding. And yes, there are times the owner is not in the best of moods. You must understand that despite the bucolic appearance of the town, there are people living there who would cause anxiety in a three-toed sloth and depression in a hummingbird. They often move about in groups, but not always. One or more of them may have left the store just before you walked in. Do be compassionate. I do not work there, nor do I own stock in the place. The owner has always treated be nicely and I am appreciative of the fact there is a market of any kind in Chloride. Basic frozen foods, milk & other essentials are available here. Candy, chips & snack foods. Beer & smokes. Cute stuff for the tourists, as well. Visitor Information. So BE NICE! : )
