Electric Vehicle Buyers beware! We expected the usual car dealership grind tactics but not the non-disclosure of the tax credit being part of the negotiated out-the-door purchase price. While the EV 2024 tax credit has the option to transfer the tax credit to the dealership for an immediate point-of-sale discount, the buyer also has the option to claim it on next year's tax return. Rolling the tax credit into the negotiated price was never mentioned until the F&I employee turned his monitor to us and had us transfer the credit over to the dealership on the IRS webpage. This credit is titled "Less Cash Due at Delivery" on the purchase agreement. Make sure you get the true expected "out the door price" for your electric vehicle purchase!!!!
