We waited for over an hour to see a vet fo our dog's ear infection. In all that time, no one bothered to tell us we needed vaccination records with us. They refused to see our dog without them! They wanted to give him ANOTHER SHOT to be seen. Are they getting kick backs from the vaccine company?! Of course we said NO to the shot and left! I will never go back there again!

I’ve taken my pet here several times, but recently they have had different veterinarians rotating through the facility. They will not renew my pets anti-itch cream until I bring them in for an additional visit even though I was just there. They are requiring me to bring her in because it’s a “new vet “ and unless that person specifically saw my pet, they can’t prescribe the cream. Even though it’s the same cream we have been using for years. Their lack of staff is now costing me more $$$.

TLDR: Just an all around mess. Inconsistent information and hours with no communication to customers.
The initial vet appointment went fine. Everything else since then has been a nightmare.
I was given incorrect information about the vaccines my dog was given. Causing me to have to reschedule other appointments.
I was told to call back within a week of my appointment to pick up a prescription. Then when I did call, I was told I’d have to wait till the antibiotics were done. Which is fine, but why did you tell me I needed to call within a week?
So now it’s time for me to get the prescription and I’ve been calling and leaving messages for DAYS with no response or call back. I’ve always called during business hours, no one picks up. My dog needs her medication and I have no way of getting it for her, and no one’s responding. So now she is suffering because they just ghosted everyone.
There’s nothing on their website or voicemail that says they’re closed. There’s not even a sign on their door. You have to show up and walk inside the Petco to figure out they’re closed. And when you do there is no one from the Vetco to talk to.
No one in the actual Petco has any ideas of when they will be open or where we should go in the meantime and there is no way to contact ANYONE from Vetco.
I get that it’s a sister company, but it’s in your building and your customer base is identical. You should be informed on what’s going on.
If I could afford another vet appointment somewhere else, I would just get a different prescription, but I’ve already payed near $100 for the visit and was assured multiple times, that I would be able to just pick up the prescription. Clearly not.
I don’t know if it’s a staffing issue or what’s going on but regardless this is completely unacceptable.
It’s unprofessional and really unresponsible, to just close your doors with no notice or warning to any of your customers. Especially when you’re what’s stands between animals and their medication.
Just go somewhere else if you can.
Edit: I went in yet again and they were open and gave me my pets prescription. I wish things had been handled differently because the staff themselves are very kind. Unfortunately that doesn’t make up for the unprofessionalism.
“oh we were closed” is not an appropriate response to the situation. You did not give any notice of the closure nor did you put it down anywhere for your clients to find.

I have never been more pissed in my life. originally I had two appointments one of them was at 3:30 and another was at 1:15, I canceled the 330, I drove 25 minutes to the 1:15 Appointment just for them to tell me that both of them were canceled. I don’t have any other time to be able to get to the vet and they couldn’t even make time to see me even after showing my confirmation for the 1:15. I am so irritated. I will never come back to this location ever again.
UPDATE: I couldnt find another vet to take her to after my appointment was cancelled by Vetco and my cat died. I loathe petco and any location they have. DO NOT GO HERE.

I rushed home from work, picked up the puppy, I didn't want to be late. They ask me, how long do I have my puppy ...?? 3 days. OOPS ! They will NOT GIVE ANY VACCINATIONS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR DOG FOR 7 DAYS OR MORE. Don't know why, but they refused. They don't mention this on the website. Btw NO OTHER VET told me this.

It's taken me a little while to write this review while we grieved the loss of our sweet Lucy, but I felt the need to write this for the sake of other pets that may be taken here. Vetco is not our primary care vet, but we sometimes take our cats here when we can't get an appointment soon enough with our other vet. However, I no longer trust this vet with anything other than maybe vaccinations. We brought Lucy here a little over a month ago because she was breathing very heavy/quick and was having some coughing/wheezing fits. The vet was not overly concerned with her symptoms, thinking it was maybe a virus, but offered to do pretty much everything – antibiotic shot, antibiotic pills, Xrays, tests, etc. which amounted to hundreds of dollars. We opted to just go with the antibiotic shot and bring her back if her symptoms didn't improve in a day or two since the concern was very low. Her coughing fits subsided after the shot but her breathing did not. We couldn't make a follow-up appointment at this same location soon enough so we ended up calling our primary care vet (Desert Ark Veterinary) and literally after one phone call describing her breathing, without even looking at her, they said we needed to take her to an animal hospital and get her in an oxygen kennel (which they didn't have there). We went to Blue Pearl as a walk-in emergency and they immediately brought her back to an oxygen kennel when we checked in. It turns out she had been in heart failure that whole time. The hospital diagnosed her with a rare heart disease with very low prognosis that was the underlying factor and we had to make the difficult decision to put her to sleep. While I don't think the outcome would really have changed considering the heart disease, I still find it incomprehensible that the vet at this Vetco did not know she was in heart failure when a single phone call with Desert Ark was all it took for them to know the situation was very serious. It breaks my heart to think that perhaps we could have gotten her out of heart failure if we tried sooner or at least made her more comfortable and made it easier for her to breathe while we figured out next steps.Vetco almost always seems to have a lot of availability, which is why I started going here because it can be hard to make a short-notice appointment with our primary care vet, but it's just not worth it. I thought seeing "a" vet would be better than seeing no vet/waiting for an appointment, but now I will always just take them to Desert Ark or Blue Pearl. Both have fantastic vets that are very caring, attentive, and most importantly, knowledgeable.

Staff is so friendly. Did an amazing job on my dog surgery. Kept me informed on progress and followed up afterwards several times. Prices were very reasonable as well. Couldn’t be happier. Thank you for your compassion during a difficult time.
