For 2 years prior to COVID, I always enjoyed going into Mia’s, even though they have a drive thru. It was a nice family run business. My main grab was 6-8 Tootsie Pops in a variety of flavors. Most often a young man, the owner, would ring up my order. When they went to drive thru only, I suffered the rudeness of an older woman. It didn’t matter what time of day, she was there making it difficult to get more than just ONE flavor. So just about 2 years ago, I stopped coming by all together, buying bags of the delicious pops elsewhere, but especially after another store opened where I could get a bag of Tootsie Pops AND courteous service. But call me crazy if you like because two days ago, I returned to the drive up at Mia’s hoping that things had changed. The lady was still extremely curt, but I thought that might just be her style. And, I got 4 pops in a variety of flavors! I was so very pleased bc I enjoy fostering family run local businesses. And, I felt it might be time to discontinue my self-imposed boycott. So I tried again today. Hopeful that an unpleasant page had turned. But no. Disaster!Again, today I ordered Tootsie pops- 5 this time. When the older lady brought ALL red, I asked if I could get at least one other flavor. Her response: “No! I just grab. You take the candy or take your money back. I’m not going to look.” I was appalled by the flat out rudeness. I even checked my rearview to see if I was holding up the line. But I was the ONLY one in the drive thru. I then asked if I could speak to the owner who I noticed was unloading goods from a van into the store. Her response: “No.” So I took my money and began to drive away. However, the owner was still there So, I went to the door told him about the discourtesy, what I wanted, and if he could help. While he did not apologize for the discourtesy, (he said 2x “I don’t want to comment about that” which as the owner he should have) he did stop what he was doing and got the 5 pops in a variety of flavors. I thanked him and sat in my car to write this review.I gave the store 2 stars because of the young man’s prompt service. No more. The lack of any other stars is because of the consistent rudeness of the older woman, and his silence in condoning her behavior.I won’t return to Mia’s, nor recommend it to the myriad of new neighbors in the area. There are much easier ways to calm my sweet tooth, and many other worthy local businesses to support.
