I am giving AZ Hot Rod & Upholstery a 1 star review because of the way I was treated as a customer that spent well over $10,000 with this shop. Upon picking up my car, I found out that the Hydro boost break system that he suggested and installed was not performing properly and was interfering with not only my breaking system, but my power steering system. After expressing my concern, Marty took another look at the car because he had a couple ideas he wanted to try and he admitted he’s had problems with the last few hydro boost systems he’s done. After him telling me the problem was fixed, I then returned to pick up my car and the hydro boost and power steering was still not working properly. I had him take it for a test drive and he agreed that it was not working properly. He then suggested spending another $2500 plus and I respectfully told him that I was going to get a second opinion. He then threatened that if I took my car to any other person he would never touch it again. Not a problem. I refused to pay his additional thousand dollar (approximately) invoice in full as well, as my brakes were admittedly still not working properly. However, I did pay for everything in full to be done correctly the first time. I have it all working properly now and another shop did it correctly. I wouldn’t recommend this shop.

You are incorrect in your statement that I skipped out on my final bill for parts and labor. We agreed I would pay for the parts, which I did, I did not pay for labor since no progress was made and my car was not functioning properly and honestly posed a safety concern with neither the break system or the steering system working properly or reliably. I simply stated the facts not intending on making myself look good or bad, because I’m a fair person. I wanted the facts out there.
By the way, you also rewired my vehicle as well and I’ve had to replace the battery due to the amp/sub equipment being consistently powered. I’ve removed the 100amp in line fuse by the battery and replaced the battery, but that is still a problem I have that I haven’t brought up because the classic car hardly gets driven.

Gonna start by saying very nice people. Now, the service I received was less than stellar. Took forever to get new seats done. Always had an excuse on why it's taking so long. I could see I kept getting put behind other jobs that came in after me. Seats turned out nice, but the knob on the side to adjust the back is very difficult to maneuver, and didn't consider the height differential. The carpet was installed poorly. Not tight, loose in a few areas. The AC that was installed doesn't blow air very well. Wouldn't have gone back after AC, but already paid for seat/carpet material.

They have helped me a couple times with my old Chevelle. Excellent work done promptly for a fair price, and they are genuinely nice people! Having some upholstery work done there now. Their shop is always busy so that speaks well for them.

It is so hard to find a good place that does upholstery. I had made an appointment with someone I googled. When I showed up for my appointment, the guy didn't even know I was coming. I then went to my RV repair shop and asked them if they knew of someone. They showed me the work that they did on a really nice brand-new ford 350. It looked like factory work. I took my RV there to have the seats and sofa bed done. I had a very tight schedule for our road trip. They worked with me on getting it done before our trip. They did an outstanding work. I would not take my RV nor my cars anywhere else for upholstery work but to Arizona Hot Rod & Upholstery.

I needed floor mats made for our street rod a week before a large car show in Scottsdale. Jeanie knocked it out of the park on super short notice. Marty also did a little last minute adjustment on the car for me as well. Very down to earth, easy to work with, and accommodating!

Took my old school Dodge Dart there for some rear suspension modifications. The metal and welding work was done superbly.
Now I can finally fit some big meats under the back end.

Jeannie redid the seat and passenger backrest on my Road King and it looks great. The stitching picks up the color of the metal perfectly.

I typically go out of my way to compliment the service of other companies but in this case I feel the need to STRONGLY WARN and inform people about major problems with the work and customer service I received by Marty and Jeanie Fox at Arizona Hot Rod and Upholstery and Fox Performance Transmission.
Over 2 years ago, I paid a deposit for both custom mechanical and upholstery work on my hot rod. Initially, I really liked Marty and Jeanie – both as people and the jobs I saw completed by them. They are talented when they want to be and can do a really bad job too, as evidenced by my experience. My hot rod was returned to me but the job we agreed on, that was paid in full, was not finished. What was done was so bad that now I’ll have to take it somewhere else to be fixed and completed. Here are just a few examples of the problems I’ve encountered so far (all of which I have documented with pictures and reviewed by other mechanics):
1) The front hood and under it: The hood is misaligned, the air conditioner compressor does not engage, the front headlight’s angel eye lighting does not work correctly; the motor-muffler connection is not tightened.
2) The body/trunk/windows:
• Body - The exterior paint is chipped and scratched. The chrome installation around the windows is loose, the door chrome was not even finished (in fact, they dropped the box of show quality chrome not installed on the ground and scratched it).
• The trunk – instead of lining the trunk, it was made into a box and the carpet was cut up and glued together; the frame for the box put screws through the trunk and the gas tank. Behind the ‘box’ was the amplifier unsecured and the carpet was not contoured correctly to the trunk.
• The windows - are misaligned, not secured/loose, chipped, the new power mechanism for the front windows does not work, and the interior chrome prevents the back window handles from rotating.
3) The stereo system - One of the speakers sticks out too far and prevents the emergency brake pedal from being pushed down, the stereo makes a terrible interference noise when the engine is on, and the amplifier in the trunk was not secured so it could easily slide around while driving.
4) The interior - The console gauges do not work. The front seat belts were not reinstalled. The front bucket seat frames only have one bolt (there are two bolt holes) per corner, the frame was not painted, old foam was used, and the upholstery stitches and seams are inconsistent. The door panels – screws were put through the panels for installation, the foam padding is uneven causing bubbles, the borders to not line up with the window leaving a gap.
When I took my car to their shop, we discussed additional work needed and upgrades to the original job. I understood the upgrade and custom job would require more time than originally agreed on. I also paid for all the additional work and upgrades in advance. I even paid the increase in hourly wage than our original agreement. Projected time frames and work completed came and went repeatedly. Understandably, my patience wore down and when I approached Marty and Jeanie about the need to have my car completed and returned, they became upset, used intimidation and threats, and argued with me. They refused to give me a completion date (after 2+ yrs of it being in their shop). I am sure they wanted the car finished as much as I did, but that doesn’t mean you just decide to stop and return an unfinished and poorly done job while keeping all the money.
The fact that the car was returned in this state is unacceptable and unprofessional. No explanation, apology or refund was given by Marty and Jeanie. This should make customers question their integrity, require inspection of all phases of the job to ensure it is done right and not covered up, and not pay a dime until the work is completed.
BE FOREWARNED… I highly discourage everyone from getting work done by Arizona Hot Rod and Upholstery / Fox Performance Trans

My classic was taken there for a normal tune up and oil change.
Instead they re-routed the electronic fuel cut off switch by bypassing my alarm.. also cutting wires and to my alarm horn.. I was wondering why my flasher were going off while driving home.
I asked them if my cut off switch was still working.. they advised me it still works. Cause I told them there was a theft deterrent switch When they said it wouldn't start.
This is what I get for trusting their Word!!
So now I am wondering what else they have done!!
OR didn't do!!??
WILL NOT BE USING THEM IN THE FUTURE!!
Oh and another thing.. wouldn't hurt to clean the car prior to me picking it up?? If you value your classic.. they keep it out in the elements!! Mine is a garaged vehicle!!!
