I had a pretty upsetting experience with a Racist volunteer staff. A very nice lady at the counter told me that there was a $8 bag sale, and after a bit of conversation with her, trying to understand the logic of it since I am an immigrant and visible minority (eastern and Muslim), and English is not my 1st language, I purchassed the bag and started to pick up items, putting them in my cart, not in the bag since I was going to be purchasing some large items too big for the bag that I planned to pay seperately. One of the ladies that heard me chatting at the counter started to follow me at the store, closely watching me. When I stopped to put the knives in an oven cloth so that it wouldn't poke anyone, she rushed to me and said DO NOT ABUSE THE SYSTEM! I asked her what she meant by that since the only thing I was doing was stopping in an open alley and trying to wrap up the knives. She said she knew that I was going to abuse the system and I should stop immediately before doing so. There were at least 10 more shoppers in the store, and me being the only visible minority with a heavy accent, she was sure that I was going to be abusing the system. I went straight to the counter and asked the manager to put the things in the bag as she liked, and I paid for the extras. I should mention that the manager was a nice lady, and the other lady at the counter was nice too, and didn't seem to be racists. But the one that made the assumption didn't bother to apologize and explained herself, and neither the others except for saying that the racist lady was having a bad day that was why she treated me like that.

This is a great, smaller thrift store, that is perfect if you like to hunt for treasures. The prices are unbeatable here and the proceeds go to support the hospital. It's also cash-only so keep that in mind. The only downside is that they are only open weekday afternoons, so it's hard to make it here when they're open if you work. But it's all run by volunteers so it's understandable!

All staff are senior volunteers - excellent place to find the least expected. Selection changes on a daily basis. Donations are appreciated and as one who has contributed, I encourage things to be clean and in useable condition. The staff does not have the time, facilities, and in some cases the physical capability to clean articles. All proceeds go to the Sundre Hospital. Great way to recycle and give back to the community for items no longer used
