The only reason I gave them 1 star is because of Cindy who's an absolute treasure. I took my vehicle in to have the air conditioner and a few other issues fixed. It cost me nearly one thousand dollars and within minutes of leaving the AC didn't work, the gas gauge didn't work and all the lights in the dash were on. Took it back only to pay another $130.00 for them to tell me it'll cost another $600.00 to fix it. Talked to Brian about it and his attitude was "so sad to bad" Needless to say I won't be going back, which I might add didn't get seem to bother Brian to much.

The Good: I came in on a Friday. They initially had me in on next Friday for an oil change, but upon seeing the engine warning light they performed a diagnostic immediately. When we discovered it was a cylinder misfire, they rushed me in the following Monday instead. They're kind in a pinch. If you're nearby in a pinch I would recommend them.
The Bad: The manager told me they would call me when the repair was done, but their auto text messaging service texted me on the Sunday that I had an appointment with them at 8:30am so I thought that meant it was already done. I scheduled my day, got ready and went there to pick it up only to wait for the guy at the desk and the manager to talk about this and inform me "we told you we would call you." ... Great customer service. Then I came back when they called and asked if I could shave a mere $20 off the $700 bill which included $49 diagnostic, $125 labor for spark plugs, $257 for replacing all 6 spark plugs, then $69 labor on replacing 1 ignition coil, and another $137 on the ignition coil itself. The manager said "no we did everything within the parameters, sorry you misunderstood." Oh? I misunderstood the text message your system sent me the day before I'm supposed to come in? Yeah okay. What about the parameter of me being misguided by your faulty text messaging system and wasting my time organizing my day around that and making sure I was there on time as per the message... you forgot to address that, and you refused to compensate me in any capacity.
The ugly: This is subjective, but the only person there who has great customer service skills is the lady who helps at the front desk. She is sweet. The main older guy at the front desk will not even look at you. Which i kind of respect because i don't like looking at customers either and he gives off that 30+ years of experience getoutofmyface vibe. Good guy though. I would rather talk to him than an overly suffocating customer service rep, but others might find him abrasive or disinterested.
Overall, I would recommmend them in an emergency but expect an expensive bill, to be told you might have to come back in a few months and zero discounts for any reason even if it's their fault their system wasted your time and an experienced but slightly rude crew? Not sure if they are rude but it might seem like it to others (except the lady she is a gem.) Again, sometimes you want to be helped by the jaded and doomer mechanics over suffocating snake oil salesmen, but I don't know if I'll go back there. I should note I think neither of the people I mentioned worked on my car, so no disrespect to the mechanics themselves, i am happy they checked me in and serviced my car as fast as they did. I'll update my review and rating if anything changes in my experience with them. The thing that pissed me off is the manager saying "sorry you misunderstood" after his system told me to be there bright and early. Yeah ok man i'll remember that.

My family has been going to North side auto for over 15 years. Tom and Cindy are trustworthy, reliable, and care about their customers. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing a mechanic.

I am very very disappointed..super unfair treatment because of my skin colour or because I am a foreigner. They set up me an appointment Thursday 9,2023 at 9:30am then when I come there they said it's gonna be 2hour and half for my block heater installation but until 1:30pm they are not even touch my car I decided to withdraw my car..not recommended specially to the foreigners...hopefully don't do it again to the others..
