Mountain Lights Books & Crafts is a wonderful little gem of a shop, a wonderfully suitable store showcasing Canadian content in an iconic Canadian Rockies setting. The thoughtfully curated bookshop offers a wonderful diversion with a wonderful inventory of books on Canadian topics and great art pertaining to the region. The store clerk and owner are extremely helpful, very personable, and know the inventory by heart. They are great at suggesting titles that suit interests and can give spot-on recommendations, even reading samples of great poetry. Visitors are encouraged to take time to peruse the titles and ask questions for a pleasant experience. The business also deals in coins, described as average circulated pieces. Potential buyers should be aware that the shop's "silver coins" refer to the color of the coin, not a silver metal composition, as some items are made of nickel. The owner is great and has been known to issue refunds regarding such matters.
If you need a suggestion because you don't see anything you like, ask the "librarian/cashier" for a suggestion. She sold me a book by an author with whom I was unfamiliar. She was "spot on!" I couldn't put it down and will now read an entire series by Louise Penny!
