Steven hosted an incredible whisky tasting for our group of 14. He carefully chose the whisky’s based on my requests and budget. Awesome whiskey, very informative, and overall a really great time!

What a friendly, cozy and incredible place, extremely knowledgeable staff, a large selection of wines and craft beers etc.. on top of those selections, they have a wide selection of liquors to suit every level and price. They wheel on occasion host sommeliers etc, and tastings within this location. Beautifully decorated, reminiscent of when I lived in Paris a few years back. You purchased a bottle of wine based on recommendation, and it did not disappoint. This will become a regular spot I believe for selections of everything wine, spirits, and craft beer related.

The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They helped me pick out gifts and the wines were well received and enjoyed. Would definitely return to Vines!

Have been going to vines for years. The prices are a bit higher than some places, but this needs to be said - The advice I get means I feel I am getting good value. I have not had a bad recommendation from the staff and I often buy products that are on sale. I bought a wine I really like last time I was in (see pic) that was very well priced and the advice I got on the gin was ?. It is worth a visit for sure.

A huge thanks to Steve for the whisky and cognac tasting event. Steve’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the topic and affable manner really set the tone for the meeting, and the guests really enjoyed the different drinks he chose for us. Interesting and quite palatable.

William does an amazing job with the tastings. It's a must to experience. Generally not intimidating nor pretentious as some can be. I highly recommend Vines for a first timer tasting whatever is offered. Very friendly, light hearted and open to all palates. Yes theybencourage you to have your own opinion and what's YOU like and don't insist they know what's best for your palate.

The staff at this establishment are a pleasure to deal with and they provide a service that is second to none. I enquired by email from Ottawa about organizing two separate Christmas gift selections to be delivered to family in Edmonton. I had a response back the same day with excellent suggestions and a completely professional quote. The staff then created beautiful presentations in baskets and delivered them to very appreciative recipients. I would not hesitate to patronize Vines-Riverbend Wine Merchants anytime in the future. Thanks to Steve and William for amazing service.

I've never set foot into the store, but I did spend 2 and a half hours in the company of Vine Riverbend Wine Merchants' Steve Richmond during a Virtual Whiskey Scotch Tasting. The Edmonton chapter of a professional organization I belong to organized the event and were kind enough to invite me. My Edmonton friends were fortunate to have ordered a tasting kit with a wee nip of five whiskeys to sip, compare and contrast. Too much international and bureaucratic red tape prevented me from sipping along with them. Steve was a real pro, and entertained us all night with awesome tidbits about the history of whiskey, its aging, legal requirements on ingredients, percentage of alcohol, the different features of barley, corn, millet and rye, casks and barrels, Scotch vs. Bourbon vs. Whiskey vs. Rye vs Peated Whiskey, collectable whiskeys, and Provincial shipping policies. The man was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and tossed out so many one-liners he had us smiling and laughing all night. Seated in front of his store's impressive "Wall of Whiskey", he introduced the night's five drinks - Jack Ryan 12 year old Irish Whiskey, Scotch Tullibardine Whiskey, a Dutch Millstone Rye Whiskey, a Bibb and Tucker Bourbon from the USA, and an Ardberg Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. I had a tremendous time and I loved the way Steve Richmond ended the presentation when he said that someday "we'll meet up again on the Whiskey Trail."

Called for a quote on a nice Red, quoted just under 20$ 6 $ below wine and beyond, which isn't known for great prices. Got to the store picked out a dozen bottles, staff person than advised she made a mistake, actually 36 $ a bottle. "Sorry" I scanned the wrong bottle. Needless to say, disappointed that wouldn't keep to there commitment, also wouldn't even match wine and beyond. Nice store but now very wary about returning, left empty handed,

I've always had outstanding service at Vines and their recommendations are consistently spot on. Last night I was in a pinch for time so I phoned in a request for a pairing with salmon and a rough budget. They selected a fantastic Pinot Noir and had it waiting at the counter for me. Thanks so much!
