They were way better when they were a coop, now that they are a corp, customer service is worse, prices are higher, quality is dropping, and their bike shop is falling off a cliff because they don't stock parts for bikes they sell, even their own mec brand.

My go to store for camping and outdoor needs. I have been a customer for a long time now, and still hasn’t changed. I’m proud that MEC is a Canadian brand store serving Edmonton for decades, thanks for the memories.

Customer service and product knowledge was second to none from John. After struggling to find boots that fit my weird shaped wide feet and sore/trashed feet on hikes. John found a pair that fit and shared some valuable knowledge on foot mechanics. Huge thank you

We purchased a Thule jogging stroller from MEC in August 2023. The front wheel was extremely wobbly for an unknown reason. We showed the manager in person as well as a video and they refused to return it stating it was due to damage done by us by dropping it or hitting the front wheel against something. We had used the stroller maybe 30 times and definitely did not do anything that would cause that to happen.
The stroller was less than a year old and they refused to replace it or fix the problem.
When I messaged Thule directly they replied quickly and are sending us a brand new upgraded stroller at no cost.
I am extremely disappointed with Mountain Equipment Coop, their management, and their customer service. We will not shop there again due to this situation.

If you have already accepted that MEC is expensive. This location stands out as a great store. Huge. Has a lots of selection. Staff are very friendly. Got a great pair of quick dry pants, on sale. Overall great store, in a great location.

I was in the market for a backpack and noticed that Osprey had a sale on their website. I was directed to MEC through their site as they had stock. I called the store and they told me they had the item in stock and would match the sale price on the website. I drove 40 minutes to the store, found the product and when I got to the till the manager said he would not match the sale price as they Osprey website was currently out of stock. Then arrogantly told me "the point is to buy at our price". Waisted an hour and a half of my day.

I just received some of the worst customer service from this store, I have ever received.
I walked out.
Without purchasing the 3 items I had wanted.
For context
I was discussing why the items were more then the sign stated.
Even tho there was no other like items other then under the sign. The man at the til. Told me.
"People put things wherever they dam please" in a very aggressive tone.
OK.
Understood.
I said. There are no other "like" items and the sign says 39.95.
Shouldn't your company honor the sign? as it didn't come from another place in the store. . This man laughed in my face, so hard and slapped his knee moking me. I immediately walked away without saying anything, he said something rude as I left. I will never be back to that store and you have the man working today at 5:52 pm on June 8th to blame. He just cost you at least $300 in today's purchasing and if it's his store. Shame on him. I'll take my business elsewhere forever more. To bad my teens all need new camping equipment this year. Your loss.

A beautiful store with a large selection of products. The staff are friendly and helpful. The building is muggy though in the spring/summer and makes for an unpleasant shopping experience (especially upstairs).

We had the best experience at MEC today. My son was looking for zero drop shoes with a wide toe box (more or less barefoot shoes). We have had trouble finding something like that here in Canada. The salesperson Melissa (Mel) who helped us was amazing!!! She knew exactly what we were looking for and brought out at least a dozen boxes of shoes in different sizes and different brands. My son was thrilled to finally have something that fit well, and with the help of her suggestions we ended up with two pair that he loves. Mel is an awesome sales associate and an asset to MEC. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. We will definitely be back.

I recently visited MEC Edmonton and was thoroughly impressed with the outstanding customer service I received. The staff was incredibly patient and helpful throughout my entire visit.
