Prices went way up and quality went way down since they went corporate. Used to be the place to go for quality outdoor stuff, not anymore. They no longer sell products they stand by.

I was excited to make my first purchase at MEC only to be disappointed with the customer service. I was the only one in line, no cashiers available as they were all talking to each other.
As soon as they saw me, they all dispersed to go to different sections of the floor.
After waiting 10 minutes for someone to attend to me at the counter, I left.
Disappointed and will not be back.

We stopped there today and Ethan helped us out and he was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve never wrote a review, however he was so helpful I couldn’t help to give him a positive review.

I trusted in Mec to be my one stop shop for camping gear (newbie mistake I guess). Iv spent almost two weeks trying to give them business and they’ve disappointed me at every turn. The amount of money and time iv lost trying to work with this company is infuriating. Customer service is horrible. They would never give me a straight answer on the phone. “It’s hard to tell” and “it should be coming soon” were the kind of answers they’d give. There’s no good reason why a 800 dollar sleeping bag takes over 9 business days to ship from a store in BC to Alberta. The staff on the floor always push towards the Mec gear. It’s a little cheaper than the leading brands but the quality is cheap. Really not worth the cost to quality ratio. I wanted to give them over 2k in business but returned all my gear. I’ll just shop on the internet like the smart people do.

I love mec and they have always had the BEST costumer service and overall on of my favourite stores. Today I needed to purchase a master link (mini bike chain connector) and a couple of shirts. I picked up the bike part and went to grab the shirts. I wanted to try them so to not look like I stole anything I put the bike part back tried the shirts and then grabbed the bike part again. When I was paying one of the mechanics ( not Rob, Rob is definitely on of the best mechanics there) came up and asked me that he saw me grab two and that asked where I put the first one and started to ask questions thinking I had stolen one. For the first time in mec I felt very uncomfortable and wasn’t treaded fair. Even the cashier looked at him confused. Either way I walked out of the doors and the alarms didn’t go off, surprise surprise. I’m not the type to leave reviews and I was going to leave a good review after today but after this i don’t know if I even want to come back to mec. Knowing mec with their great costumer service they’ll do something about this, hopefully. Maybe mec will be my favourite store again. I am also willing to give a good (because they truly deserved it , except for what happened today)review of this matter is addressed.

We also visited this outdoor sports store. There was sportswear, along with a lot of equipment for activities like climbing, canoeing and more.
The bike section was quite large. Although there were only a few kinds of bikes, there were plenty of bike accessories available.
The prices might not be lower, but people who love sports could easily find what they need.
It mainly sells outdoor activity products. Equipment from mountain climbing to canoeing can also be found here, as well as a variety of sportswear. The bicycle area is quite large. Although there are not many bicycle styles, there are many related bicycle accessories.
The overall pricing is not cheap, but you can easily find all the things you need for outdoor sports here.

I received great service from Craig. He had answered my questions regarding the various running shoes they had on the wall. He went out his way and found a great pair of running shoes for me. Give this man a raise/ promotion.

The main door had more waters trains on it than I've ever seen on a glassdoor on a storefront at this time of the year. It's not very inviting
