Worst experience. Today went to exchange a $22 game bought 4 days back with full packing coz it was not working properly. Even my 7 yr old son told her it’s not working properly when we opened. The manager / supervisor exchanged with a demo piece and told i am not allowed to return coz it’s open. I am there to exchange not return. Very rude.
FYI the same game super store just opposite is selling at $18 saw during grocery shopping . But I didn’t say that . I was a regular customer but this kind of customer service will drive away your loyal customers.

Mostly china made cheap toys that break pretty much right away or don’t work. They won’t take any responsibility either even if product is defective.

Firstly, we are repeat customers and have spent a lot of money at this store. Yesterday, my 4 year old son bought a Bruder truck just before closing. When I saw the truck, I asked if we could open it up to see its functionality, which I wasn't sure about. The associate, Emma, said no and that it wasn't their policy to open toys to ensure they work. Just doing their job, I'm sure. Once we got it home, I noticed that the garbage truck had limited funtions. The bins were difficult to pick up or connect to the back of the truck, and the button on top moved internal parts that seems to do nothing (maybe spit the garbage out?). It was really unclear what the button did or how the back end worked. The second back button hardly opened the release door to let the garbage out. When the bins are picked up, the lids don't open, so there's no way to dump garbage into the truck. Given that we have a few garbage trucks, we know how they often work/are built. This truck was over $100, and had the least amount of functionality of any truck we'd seen. So, today, at 1:30pm, I went to exchange the truck for a different toy. Emma, the associate, tells me that they do not have a return or exchange policy for opened or played with toys. This is not only disappointing, it's illogical. Every other toy store in the city allows for kids to open the toy and return or exchange it if it doesn't meet quality standards or if it breaks. That is what happened last week when my son shot a plastic bow and arrow at the window in our house and it broke. He shot a second arrow and broke it as well. We were told that we could exchange the item for something else, but that purchase needed to happen in store that day. This policy cannot be found on their website. Now, we are told that any toy that is opened or played with cannot be exchanged or returned because they don't have the buying power of the bigger stores like Wal-Mart or Toys R Us. Also, because Emma "bent the rules" for us last time by allowing the exchange of the broken item, they were not able to "keep doing this for us" especially when my son played too rough with the arrows. The item broke from regular use within the first hour. My son did not play too rough as Emma says I told another employee (this did not happen and it is not true). To say that this is a disappointment is understated. We've lost our favourite toy store and will now have to return to the bigger chains because, unfortunately, toys are poorly made with cheaper materials and now those toys cannot be exchanged or returned. We are stuck with a $100 garbage truck that belongs, itself, in the garbage. The manager told me that it would behove me to watch videos on YouTube and read reviews of the toys I want to buy - because that is reasonable and possible today for women with full-time jobs, trying to raise kids, and do the invisible labour, like return toys that just don't work properly. We would have easily purchased something of equal value and been happily on our way. What an absolute disappointment. We will not return.

Awful customer service. Went in with my young daughter to spend her gift card 6 months ago. We were told that they were having some issues processing gift cards and to return another time. When we returned The staff informed us that the gift card was no longer valid. They lied to us the first time saying it was a system error. We were within the window to use the card before the business was “sold”, but because they lied we were no longer within the window when we returned. We will not be giving this store any more business after this terrible experience and want to warn others as well.

Watch out !!!!!!
Hoping this review reaches out to all previous loyal Mastermind customers. If you have an existing gift card for the store it is worthless.
My son was given a $100 gift card a while back from his grandparents and we went to the store last Saturday to use it. We were told that Mastermind had been bought by a new company and that existing gift cards were not going to be honoured. My son was visibly upset, so my wife ended up paying for the items. The customer representative then refused to give the card back. I then proceeded to customer service online to make a formal complaint. Their response was that there was nothing they could do and they were not going to honour the card.
This is just plain theft. I will not do business with a dishonourable company.
We will never shop there again.

Had a $50 gift card from last year and they will not honour this anymore. I will now not visit any Mastermind stores ever again.

Omg Edmonton!!!!there's not enough stars to give this this place 10000 stars !!!! Masterminds South common is freaking amazing!!! The staff is top notch with their customer service , friendly approach and eagerness to help and just a fun vibe atmosphere, honestly it felt like I was in Disneyland! From their store manager( Alyissa,) Emma and Ayaan from giving me the best customers service that my niece and nephews will be so happy for Easter. Seriously if your looking for that friendly warmth atmosphere this is the place. Promise you won't be disappointed. Looking for tgat extra something this is the place the staff will steer you in the right place you won't be disappointed .Come experience for yourself to feeling like a kid again

Please note, I didn't go in person! Online shopping with delivery in Edmonton. Very varied merchandise, prices comparable to average, package prepared the same day (in 3 hours, even during the Holidays) and local delivery within a week. Package arrived in perfect condition.
