My neighbor and I went into the Calgary location hoping to purchase dremel bits for nails. My neighbor has been licensed many decades and presented her card when asked. The shop owner/clerk became agitated and cut us off abruptly when realizing hair is my neighbors main industry.
She proceeded to inform us there was 'special licensing' required, to purchase dremel bits, adding there was a high element of danger. (my thought bubble, has she ever been to a real tool store where they sell saw, router and shaper bits?)
The woman was rude and condescending while she tried to imply her personal liability, she seemed to take pleasure from power, and we left bewildered over the bad experience. We felt judged and as though we didn't meet her personal standards; perhaps we were to old and unattractive for her taste.
We googled nearby businesses and called the The Beauty Depot. The woman was kind and courteous, there is no special license required above industry norm to purchase nail dremel bits. We all discussed the incident at Purple which is probably the worst experience I've had in Calgary in my years, and I was born here. I can honestly say I am a seasoned cabinet maker who handles all kinds of blades and bits, and never have I been treated so poorly, and I don't consider nail bits to be a threat to adults. Someone should explain to the staff at Purple what constitutes danger and how to treat people respectfully - consider going elsewhere in our humble opinions, it made us feel very badly.

Absolutely love this supply store. I’m a nail tech and this is my go to store for all things gel nails and more. They don’t have a big variety of acrylic options but for me I don’t mind as I am stepping away from that. All of the ladies who work here are hands down amazing and go above and beyond for their customers, I highly recommend that you don’t shy away from chatting or asking them questions. I’ve seen some previous comments about sassy/rude or discriminatory behaviour from staff, but it seems that this issue is absolutely not the case anymore as I have been coming here for a few years and always leave with a smile on my face due to the lovely professionals here. ☺️ The ONLY reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I so so badly wish that they were open on weekends.

This is easily my favorite supplier! Everyone is fantastic to deal with, and they're always so fast and efficient for shipping! They almost alway have what I need on hand. Wish we had one local (wink wink nudge nudge ?)
