The selection was cool, but the staff didn't seem to want to be bothered.

I didn’t even know gift cards could expire like HELLO a gift card means prepaid so where tf did the money go? Edit: Thank you to that one employee who told us we can call the number on the back for a refund, without u we woulda walked out the store without knowing

Very upset with my shopping experience here. Went in recently for some early Christmas shopping and was given really poor service and attitude from the store manager Karen. It certainly ruined what should’ve been a positive experience. For that reason, I will not be returning, I hope this place listens to reviews and reevaluates their hiring processes.

They do not accept gift cards that say mastermind toys. The sign on the outside says since 1984. They informed me the old mastermind toys went bankrupt and the new one does not accept old gift cards. I interpret this as false advertising. You have lost me and my wife as a multiple repeat customers over a 50 dollar gift card. Other companies who have taken over brands have generally accepted old gift cards. Please reach out if your willing to accept the gift card

I really liked Mastermind Toys before. I still like their selection and always go there to get gifts for my friends and family in that age bracket.
However, this last visit I was really disappointed with the gift wrapping. The person in front of me had a situation where the woman forgot to include something in what was supposed to be wrapped in the gift. She made no effort to fix it.
Mine was done so poorly that it was embarrassing. I had to re-do it when I got home. It was surprising because they’ve always done such a beautiful job in the past. I could depend on them for this service.
One of the reasons I shop at Mastermind Toys and don’t mind their slightly higher prices is not only the uniqueness of their products, but because they offer this service. Without it I’m not sure how often I’ll shop there.
I hope it was a one off but I’m worried about trying again. I don’t always have time to re-do a terrible wrapping job.

Apparently this store wants you to guess what the prices of 95% of the toys in the store are. No price tags on anything. Also if you plan on putting no tags at least tell 1 of the 5 people working there if anyone needs help. Won’t be back. What a waste of time.

WARNING!!! Poor quality products! Racist Staff and the worst shopping experience ever.
I bought a mini 12 camera today and the pieces are broken. I drove back and ask for return but the staff Karen told me that those are just small scratches and she told me the display show the same scratches. She took the display and saw the display is in good shape. She is so reluctant to exchange a new one for me and laugh at my English. The staff told me that it is the last piece but later on they said they can exchange a new pieces now. I feel so terrible experiencing this situation in Canada. I never recommend anyone going this store.

Mastermind has always been my go to for loot bags. Sadly when I visited this location over half of the items had absolutely no price tags! It’s impossible to keep running up to the till to ask for a price on each little item. I grew so frustrated I just left and went to indigo. If you can’t price each item individually at least put a price tag on the box/bin. I noticed other customers were also frustrated…

Warning!!! I bought some toys at Christmas and was sold some deal where if I bought something, I would get a gift card for $10. Went to use it the other day and they said they don't accept them any more, "this is a different company now." Every time you buy something at this store they are trying to sell you on some deal or wanting you to sign up for their club. This is probably why Amazon is forcing all these places out of business.

The store event of building a lego bracelet was said for age 6+, but the staff don’t allow adults to join together with kid, even I finished a bracelet, but the staff take it back. ?If activity only for kids, it should be clear that kids only.

They weren't accepting their own gift cards. They said they hadn't been since Dec 2023. It's now March and they haven't figured out a solution. They couldn't say when the issue would be resolved. My son was devastated that he couldn't use the card he got for his bday (bought from that very location btw. Go to another location where there's competence and compassion.

Gift Card FraudIn the last two years, I have partially used at least three gift cards at Westhills Mastermind – only to return several months later to find that my balance is now $0. Most recently, my son had his birthday party in March 2023; I wrote down the remaining balance of the card was $85.68, but when I went to use the card again three days ago – the $85.68 was gone. Mastermind customer service says they can only track online sales, so it must have been used in store. However, it wasn’t used by me. Someone is stealing money off Mastermind gift cards.
