I’ve recently had two experiences with Carstar Calgary Springbank, both of which left me frustrated and questioning the quality of their work.
The first visit was with my wife’s SUV for an oil change and windshield replacement. Initially, the transaction went smoothly, but we noticed afterward that the heads-up display wasn’t functioning correctly on the new windshield. We brought this up with the shop, and while they did offer to replace the windshield at no additional charge, it was still inconvenient to have to schedule another visit.
A week later, I brought in another vehicle for a windshield replacement and fluid changes, including oil (annual). They mentioned they were busy and asked if I could pick it up later in the day, which I agreed to. After confirming the pickup time, I arrived at 7:00 p.m., but the vehicle wasn’t ready, and I ended up waiting an additional 1.5 hours in the lobby until 8:30 p.m. While I appreciate the team working after hours, I want to note that all visits were scheduled with them, and I didn’t ask for any special timing accommodations. Waiting that long, especially at the end of the day, was not what I expected.
The following day, I checked the coolant as advised and decided to check the oil as well. To my surprise, the oil was very dark, suggesting it hadn’t been changed. This raised concerns about whether other fluid changes were performed at all. When I called the shop, they assured me the oil had been changed but offered to book me in for another oil change to address the issue. So once again, I had to return to the shop to correct a deficiency.
While I appreciate Carstar’s willingness to take responsibility, it’s been extremely inconvenient to have to make multiple return visits due to initial mistakes. I am debating whether these are just isolated incidents or signs of broader issues. The location is convenient for me, so I may return, but only with the expectation that I’ll need to closely review their work.

Had a vehicle in for inspection in Nov 2023, requested full inspection as had a noisey belts squalling. In April 2024 the timing belt went on the vehicle and engine blew up. No mention of timing belt replacement in their inspection report. Anyways, $10k vehicle is done. Have had previous work done here and work has been good, so 3 stars is warranted.

My experience with CARSTAR happened a few months back in January 2024 but as it has sat with me for some time it has bothered me more and more so I wanted to share.
Three days before Christmas someone hit my passenger side door in a parking lot in Cochrane. I submitted the claim to my insurance and they recommended I send it to one of their affiliated shops which was CARSTAR.
The communication between the insurance company, CARSTAR, and myself sucked as I was constantly being given different information from the two of them but I digress.
When it was all said and done my passenger door and wheel bearing were replaced and overall the work was done in a timely manner.
The problem here lies. Maybe 2 weeks after getting my car back we noticed a small noise on the drivers side wheel. As I was driving to work one morning the noise was getting louder and louder on the highway. I was scared to drive it home so took it to the nearest tire shop during my lunch break to have a look and ALL the bolts on my tire were loose! When they put the tires back on they forgot to torque that tire! They were so loose you could spin each one with your finger.
I was very close to loosing my wheel on the highway with my 5 year old son in the back seat. Since I had already closed the case with the insurance company and said everything looked good I didn't call back to bring up this matter. But this negligence could have caused a serious accident or even our lives.
Its such a small thing to miss with potentially serious consequences. Please don't do this to someone else, and anyone going here check your tires after you get your repairs done.

I recently had the opportunity to tour CARSTAR Springbank as I belong to a collision repair performance group that CARSTAR Springbank is a part of. As a fellow shop owner I can confirm that CARSTAR Springbank has all the right processes in place and you can tell that everything they do has a large focus on customer satisfaction. All staff that I interacted with were knowledgeable and professional. The shop is clean, well run, and has all the right equipment required for collision repair in 2024. Thanks Shane and team for the tour and keep up the great work!

I can always count on Carstar Springbank for anything automotive. They service our vehicles, we’ve had body work done, ordered parts, tires, etc. Always a good experience.

These guys were so easy to deal with and fixed my car up like brand new. I did notice a minor issue a few months later so I can attest to their post repair customer service. They got me in right away and cheerfully resolved my problem and had me on my way in no time. If I run into anymore problems I know I can depend on these guys for quick, convenient and quality repair and sevice.

Fantastic service from this shop. I had significant damage requiring lots of parts to be ordered. Their communication was excellent and most importantly the truck looks fantastic and drives like new. Highly recommend Carstar Springbank!
