Billingsgate was Established in 1907 and it shows, their products smell like they come from 1907.We purchase “fresh” Icelandic cod, frozen squid tubes, and smoked salmon.Despite being assured the cod was fresh, it wasn’t. My kitchen stunk once I opened the package. When the squid thawed I noticed it was covered in freezer burn. Turns out it was packed April 2022. I’m writing this in Oct 2023. The smoked salmon was incredibly dry.Basically spent $35 to throw away.What’s most disappointing is the lack of response from Billingsgate. I sent them an email and they didn’t bother to respond. I shouldn’t be surprised when they sell seafood that’s over 1.5 years old.

I have never seen such a selection of amazing seafood in Calgary before. Hands down the best blue spotted prawns, Argentinian shrimps and smoked salmon I have ever had! Brian the owner is also very friendly and a great guy!

I used to go here for caviar. I stopped going after the following experience: I told the owner that his price were exceptionally cheaper and that everybody else in town had increased there prices many times while he hadn't. The next time I came in for caviar he had all his prices increased substantially. He said I was right, he thanked me and told me that I couldn't get a discount even though I helped him out. I am disgusted with his lack of gratitude and I haven't been back there for years since.

Best seafood market in Calgary! Love this place. Great advice, always, from a friendly fish-monger. My kids love to go and have a little smoked mackerel snack as well.

bought mussels from their location in the farmers market by Ramsey, terrible experience as shell fish were in a decaying stage, ruined my dinner with guests!! with their experience, I think they did realize but selling it unethically anyway. Plus, they never send me a receipt ($135 worth) thru email as they claimed they would. In my view, Billingsgate, since the day when they were at East Village, then, by the stadium mall, had gone to a pathetic/ lamentable stage, product quality wise. Sad. Will I ever go back, NOT WITH ALL THE TEA FROM CHINA. Why 2 stars? purely for old time sake !!
