Small and convenient food & groceries store with options to fresh and ready-to-go meals, although with slightly higher prices

For years Sobeys was my favorite grocery store. In the last year or so this store has definitely been on a steady decline in several areas.
The shelves are rarely stocked well especially anything that's on sale, those items are often empty. The employees use to be so friendly and upbeat not so much anymore. Just a simple hello or good morning goes a long way and is very easy to do. SMILE!
Recently I was shopping at the store before 8am. Maybe 3 or 4 customers in the store. Bakery was empty, shelves and specials empty, four cashiers at the front of the store. Not one said a word to me or offered to bag my groceries. Instead they stood around chatting and laughing amongst themselves. No eye contact no nothing.
On a positive note I still prefer the store lighting over most of the other stores...🙄

I always shop in Sobeys Airdrie. I might say everything was good and nice but except with this one employee woman (I assume from Africa) was so arrogant. 3 of us pay in the self service counter and when we ask an assistance regarding out scanned item the lady just standing in the corner and pointing(with yelling) out with her finger from the distance to which button we will press. Why just come over and teach us individually as the other customers are old and can't even find which one to press on the screen. She just looking at us like anger.

I love shopping here. The staff are always so pleasant and helpful and the quality of the food is great with a variety of fresh, healthy, and well-displayed options. I appreciate the efforts of people like Manuel who joyfully provide assistance with any questions.

What a great place to shop! If you want to pay $7 for a high quality ground beef which is enough for a 12-year-old kid's lunch, that's your place! Don't forget your sunglasses because you will need them for shopping in this great supermarket. They like to waste money by lighting more than 357 lightbulbs in their stores! Stupid, idiots!

Picked up a few things we needed, needed help, but can never find a sole so we didn't get a few critical items I wanted. The bakery department is the only exception...friendly staff, fresh cakes, fresh bread, overall very happy with this department. Seafood department was the worst. Wanted some help but was told by Todd that he was off and to go to customer service.

My 5 stars is for the staff at Sobeys on 8th Street and the store itself... super friendly staff; store is clean and bright and organized. My only concern with this store is the Bermuda Triangle that is their parking lot! I've been shopping here for 3 years and all of a sudden a month ago my key fob wouldn't work in the parking lot. Thinking it was my fob, I switched to a different one... today, same thing. Apparently this is a known thing! I'll try another section of the parking lot next time I go, but if that doesn't work, I'll have to switch stores unfortunately :( I saw on a Redit thread that a ton of others have had the same issue...
