I visited Juneau and Bald Eagle Gifts & Jewels on Thursday 10/24/24 onboard the Norwegian Jewel. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They had a great selection of art, knifes and jewelry. The lady who helped us worked at the store with her uncle and they were both extremely knowledgeable and eager to engage with customers. The reason I leave a 4/5 stars is due to a complication. I purchased a combo deal for $350. Which included a Damascus steel Ulu knife with an engraved scrimshaw handle and a regular style knife also engraved (pictured below). She was extra kind to wrap the knifes and whale take my wife selected and packaged for us to take home. However, I don’t think the ULU knife made it into the bundle by mistake and I’ve now lost a $200 blade. If the management would reach out I’d like to have the blade shipped home and I’d be happy
To give 5 stars as the service was great! Just bummed out!

I bought a soapstone bear and was assured it was carved by a native Alaskan artist, who also had stuff in the Smithsonian. Had it shipped home. The COA stated the guy was Vietnamese, and lives in Seattle!!! I despise being lied to...

2nd time been there and 2nd time purchasing an Alaskan art piece.
My newest addition was a small scrimshaw piece, done on a fossilized walrus tooth.
Both times we negotiated prices we just couldn't say no and had to buy. Of all the shops at all ports our cruise stopped at, by far the best. Looking for an art piece specific to Alaska, put this shop in Juneau on your list.

I visited the shop and talked to Vinny Sippy. I purchased an absolutely beautiful alexandrite ring. It is almost impossible to find stones of such high quality. The price was very reasonable. On my next visit in Juneau I will definitely stop to see Vinny and find more treasures.

My husband and I were in Juneau in May 2024 on a port stop during our Alaskan cruise. We went into the Bald Eagle Gift and Jewelry store because my husband saw a knife that he wanted to look at.
While my husband was looking at knives, I was looking at Jewelry. Vinny told me he could beat any price that the cruise line was offering. I didn't believe it. Vinny started showing me loose diamonds that could be set into earrings. Then, he showed me the cost. At that point, I knew he was speaking the truth. So I asked him to show me some rings. He first showed me a pre-set ring that he allowed me to take outside to look at in the sunlight. The ring was stunning. However, it was not quite what I was looking for. So, I asked him to show me something a bit larger. Vinny showed me a 2.55 loose lab grown diamond. He also showed me a setting in which the diamond could be mounted. That was it! Vinny gave us an exceptional price, which beat the pants off the price that the cruiseline was offering for a very similar ring.
Needless to say, we purchased the ring! Vinny had the diamond mounted and ready for us to pick-up within 30 minutes. He also gave my husband the knife he was looking to purchase and some additional items.
If we're ever back in Juneau, we'll be sure to purchase from Bald Eagle Gifts & Jewelery again. We will also tell all of our friends and family to visit Vinny if they're ever in Juneau.
We had the ring re-certified when we returned home. We were more pleased than ever with the value of the appraisal. Now, I'm thinking I need to get a matching band!
Thanks, Vinny! You rock!!

This place is obviously a tourist trap and you must deal with it. It is close to the 3 or more cruise ships terminal and it’s obvious they are going to be a bit overpriced.
On the other hand, their hats and gifts selection are quite good, especially their hats. The design of their hats is excellent. I can’t comment on the gemstones as it seems every store on the street is selling some type of jewelry. The place sells statues and arts but some of it can originate from other place. One of their big statue aren’t made in Alaska but made in Bali.

Rude salesmen. Absurd prices for everything. They have a “$23K” showpiece which was kept on a table along side everything else and the only reason why it was so expensive because it was created by someone from “Smithsonian”.

On my stroll in Juneau today, I popped into The Bald Eagle on Franklin Street. I purchased a wooden whale, and the young clerk, Jase, beautifully wrote ‘Juneau, Alaska 2024’ on the bottom of it for me.
On the counter were carvings from a beautiful kind of stone that caught the light. Jace explained to me that there are only three people in North America that know how to work with this stone, selenite, because it is so brittle.
He told me he had a small piece of it in raw form and reached behind the counter to show it to me. Immediately tears sprang to my eyes … Jordan had a piece of selenite in his pocket when he passed away. I keep it in the jewelry box he made that now also holds his ashes.
“Keep it.” Jace said as I explained my tears. I couldn’t thank him out loud, I was trying not to cry.
The shop owner, Vinny, also gave me small selenite heart. Just precious! Moments like this are so special, when people extend such kindness … little things that mean the world to someone else.
If you’re ever in Juneau, Alaska, PLEASE stop in The Bald Eagle and tell them Alane sent you! Wonderful shop and wonderful people!

Very happy with a ring we purchased on 25 August, Vinny had it resized within an hour, provided valuation, which we had revalued upon our return to Australia, and was more than happy with the valuation. Thank you Vinny you were true to your word.
