First island on our trip, left a magical impression on us, gondola ride was scenic, got a bit drenched in the rain, thereafter weather was perfect, enjoyed the mini doughnuts on our walk along the beach, you can take the bus to go to the village inhabited by a small community, we took most pictures here, mesmerizing place, highly recommend❤️🫶🏼❤️

Not sure if I went to the same place as all these five star ratings, but pretty sure I did. If you are into a very manufactured (Disney like) experience this is for you. If you don’t spend big money there isn’t much to do here. The day we were there the zip line for example was $190. This site is literally owned by the cruise lines but unlike the Caribbean owned islands everything is extremely overpriced and nothing is free except for a short gondola (really it’s very short) from the far away dock to the other dock area. Compared to the other stops this had the highest prices for excursions and the least options, during our cruise it was at least 50-100% higher for whale watching here than in other stops. I believe it’s because this place had no competition so the cruise lines can charge whatever they want.
I wish this wasn’t always a stop on these Alaska cruises but it is. The only nice part was leaving.

Beautiful spot, we went into town the locals were amazing talked to a young guy in a gift shop man was he a wealth of local knowledge could have sat with him all day, the gondola is worth the quick trip up, amazing views and cool views, especially of the cruise ship. We seen a humpback come in the bay it went right by the shore missed a picture of that one

Icy Strait Point, located near the town of Hoonah, Alaska, offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventure, making it a standout destination for travelers. As a privately owned tourist destination, it provides a more intimate and authentic Alaskan experience compared to some of the larger ports. The breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and waters set the stage for a memorable visit, whether you're stopping by on a cruise or exploring the area independently.
One of the highlights of Icy Strait Point is its strong connection to the Tlingit culture. The native-owned site has preserved its heritage and offers visitors the chance to learn about the local indigenous culture through exhibits, performances, and interactions with the community. The restored cannery, now a museum, showcases Alaska’s fishing history and gives visitors a glimpse into the past.
For adventure seekers, Icy Strait Point does not disappoint. The world’s longest zip line, ZipRider, offers a thrilling ride down the mountainside with incredible views of the forest and ocean. Whale watching excursions are also highly popular, with Icy Strait Point being one of the best places to spot humpback whales, orcas, and other marine wildlife. Kayaking, hiking, and ATV tours are available for those looking to experience Alaska’s wilderness up close.
Dining options are plentiful, with seafood being the star attraction. The Crab House and other eateries offer fresh, locally sourced dishes like crab, salmon, and halibut, allowing you to savor the authentic flavors of Alaska.
With its beautiful natural surroundings, rich cultural experiences, and a wide range of activities, Icy Strait Point is a destination that provides something for everyone. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, it offers an unforgettable Alaskan experience.

Very beautiful! The free ride up to the midpoint was great. $50 to go further was a bit too steep, especially since we had done it before. We walked through the forest on the way back and really enjoyed it. It was a moderate walk. There were small trails off of the road, which were fun.
We walked to Hoonah, and it wasn't worth it. We did see a deer by the road and an eagle atop a tree, but the town was disappointing. It's a fishing village and nothing more. Local people were very friendly, but there was just nothing to see.
The Icy Straight food selection was incredible. Crab, salmon, and other fresh fish were offered at the restaurants. The hot donuts were fantastic and worth the wait in line.

This place is completely tailored for cruise tourists. On the other hand, you can also spot bald eagles, such as on a walk to Hoonah.

We enjoyed walking around the area and taking in the natural beauty of the area. There are lots to see and do once off your cruise ship.

I was pleasantly surprised at visiting Icy Strait Point. I took the Gondola and Tram Excursion. I watched the fast moving Zipline pass over my head. Once you reach the pier, one takes a Gondola to an area where you pick up another Gondola to reach the tram to tour the rain forest. Before you ride the higher Gondola, you may shop, and sit around a fire and listen to music while drinking or eating food. Then you take a longer Gondola to a higher level where you catch the tram. The tram is a guided ridden tour around the rain forest. Dave, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly and knew the history of the Island, spoke and pointed out the edible and herbal plants. Overall everyone was friendly, and I enjoyed learning about the culture of the people and the plants/trees on the island.

A very quiet and picturesque town in the little things of Alaska. Extremely quiet so there are very few people and you also have few shops or restaurants so no options. It has its visual appeal and after touring the town in a very reasonable time, it is best to return to the pier and see lots of beautiful nature, so you have to go in search of bears!!
