I just payed $27 for two sandwiches, got home and it tastes like they used last weeks bread. Eww. Good thing I have a jar of mayo at home. What happened Fritz? Did your baker quit?

Very interesting general store/post office/café/gas station. I tried the daily special of bean soup, it was amazing! Thick, hardly soup, loaded with ham and vegetables, served with warm, buttered sourdough bread. SO glad we found this spot!

A true Alaskan trading post !!.I stopped in here to use the post office and just couldn’t pass up beautiful the pastry case. I ordered something they called a“Pop -Tart” …the best pastry I’ve had on the peninsula!Additionally I had left my credit card there and the staff literally hunted me down online finding my business profile and reaching out to let me know I had left it ..I couldn’t say more about this establishment.. As a lifelong Alaskan I don’t see these little treasures as often as I use to ..Stop here you’ll be glad you did !

A friend pointed me in this direction for great sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. I braced myself for poor customer service after reading reviews, but I found only friendly employees and delicious cinnamon rolls!

It was cloudy and rainy when we arrived in Homer for the first time. After a great fish dinner on the Spit, the clouds broke and it looked like it would be a nice evening. We drove up East End Road to see the views of the glacier-top mountains across the bay. I had heard about the pastries at the General Store, but 10 minutes before closing, the case was pretty empty. I chose one of the few macaroons huddled on a plate and a lonely-looking berry bar, which I thought Mr. Z would prefer to the equally lonely-looking lemon bar. We sat in the car, sharing our forlorn little dessert, and wow, it was good. Mental note to return earlier tomorrow! I asked the woman at the checkout if the views were better if we continued driving all the way up the road. She said yes, and to make sure to go to the "natural park" on the left. All the views were on the right, so she repeated go left. The firewood are in bloom and it's really pretty there. On the left. We found the Eveline State Recreation Area trailhead, but it was later than we wanted to start any kind of hike. We returned the next day, stopping in early to secure our evening dessert from a well-stocked pastry case. This time it was a wealth of riches, and painful to decide on only two: another macaroon because it was soooo good, and a slice of flourless chocolate cake, dense and so rich it really had to be shared. And then, after managing to resist all the other goodies shining in the case, they had cookies and cinnamon rolls lined up on the checkout counter. Oh if only we had another day in Homer! Besides the sweets, it's a regular general store, and they also have a food counter to order what sounded like really yummy sandwiches and smelled like delicious soups and hot food items. We didn't get a chance to eat lunch there, but I'd make a point of it, if I ever get back to Homer. And the easy hikes up the road at the "natural park" were, as described, very pretty with all the wildflowers and views.

If you want to experience what rural stores used to be like . This is the place. The store provides the local community with all services needed . Post Office, groceries, deli, bakery, liquor store, community gathering, and gas station. Add to this the local characters and you have the Fritz Creek Store.
