“THE fish store in Anchorage. Employees are well versed in all things fish. All the supplies for any type of tank you could possibly desire, fresh or saltwater. Tons of livestock and plants in stock. If they don't have it, they can absolutely get it for you. Pictured are two bettas I recently picked up from them. They're the most active bettas I've ever recieved.”
“I love going to Alaska Mill, Feed & Garden! They have an excellent selection of pet supplies, garden tools, wild bird seed, too many cool things to list. The employees are incredibly helpful & friendly! When I got in line a couple days ago, look at the cute pup just in front of me!! His owner had just brought him home, so he was stocking up on puppy supplies, food & toys!”
“[Fireweed Location] Very happy with the selection at this charming store and the knowledge of the employees. Some of the products are Alaska themed -- adorable! I brought my tiny 2 pound puppy in because I cannot find a harness that will fit him nor one he's willing to wear. The lady working helped get him fitted and let him try on multiple options in the store. They have great quality products in here and I love supporting a local business.”
“I love this place. There are options for every type of dog because they understand our pets are as diverse as people! The facility is clean, the layout is well planned and the instructors are kind and knowledgeable.”
“Amazing experience, knowledgeable employees who are excited to share what they know so you can have a successful time at home with whatever brought you there. The animals were in clean comfortable housing. And the Bettas seemed SO happy. They had little bubblers for each one and they looked so healthy. Prices were affordable as well, I was able to get more than I expected. I will be coming to Anchorage specifically for Pet Zoo. A 3 hour drive is worth it for these folks. 10/10”
“I have always been charged an extra fee or declined service at previous salons due to the groomers needing extra hands because of Lupa, my vocal and high anxiety dog (she’s a husky mix). When I went to petco and talked to Edward, the salon manager about my concerns about Lupa, he took the extra time to listen and reassure that she will be okay.
When I came to pick her up, he went above and beyond my expectations! Lupa’s fur was softer than ever, we didn’t see much shedding until 3-4 weeks later and she actually let him cut her nails! She used to be scared about going into a salon, but she loves seeing Edward. Everyone in the salon are super sweet and helpful, and take their time as well, Lupa just happened to choose Edward!”
“Just when you thought the days of fabulous service that truly exceed your expectations are gone forever, we met Dave Gillespie at the Petco in Anchorage. In this day of online chatbots for customer service, redundancies and the ever constant rotation of short time workers and outsourced services, I was AMAZED by what Dave did! We were in Anchorage with our dog from Las Vegas and had just gotten married on the glaciers. It was the day to fly back to our home with our beloved dog when when we realised late in the day, a few hours before the flight, that somehow, we no longer had the screws and bolts to reassemble our 57 lb doggy carry crate. We ran to the nearest Petco -- with the hope of just buying a new crate (hoping they had one big enough) (a $200+ expenditure) and we were met immediately by Dave who showed us the crates. I was grateful that at least Petco carried the inventory (not all Petco locations do these days without a preorder online!) so i breathed a sigh of relief -- As i was looking at the crates, Dave engaged me in a few basic questions about our travels and we then told him that feeling rather silly, we actually had a crate but not bolts or screws to affix the top to bottom -- and he then on his own initiative, said " oh, you have a crate and you just need the screws and bolt?" to which i said yes , and he then replied "well., I have some for you.... come with me" and as i stood there mouth open in amazement, he led us to the training area (he is actually a dog trainer), opened up a drawer, and there they were, a bag full of bolts, screws, nuts,, (i guess they've standardised these things for dog crates). He told us he assembles all the crates for store demo and there are always extra nuts/bolts, so he just keeps them on the side in his little training drawer ... for if they are ever needed.
I WAS shocked! I had not even bothered to ask if we can buy these things when i walked in because i have never seen them sold....
Call it serendipity, angel spirit guides, or just plain old fashion "let's not constantly throw stuff away perfectly good stuff"mentality, DAVE SAVED the day.
He clocked out soon after and I thank our lucky stars that he was there just at the right time and that it was HE who we met in our hour of need.
FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE, SMART AND GREAT GUY. Thank you so much Dave. YOU ARE THE BEST. You should be promoted to management and get more duties so you can share your wisdom and know how with your colleagues.
We will now buy only from Petco. You've made a loyal customer out of us. Thank you!!!
Eternally. Jayne and Laurence Bailey”

“A must go for all your pets needs! So much of their inventory is local! From “porcupine vest” to homemade pupcakes. The gal working was super friendly and helpful but not overbearing. I wish I would have stopped here sooner. #supportlocal #madeinalaska”
