I occasionally visit to get a shampoo and blowout, and it's always a great service. Thanks!

Fast, professional, and reasonably priced. One of the few salons in Anchorage with reliable online appointments.

I was a last minute walk in. I came in to cut my hair short about shoulder length. The first thing she did was shampoo my hair and she was a little rough. After that, she cut my hair to the style I wanted but it turned out to be shorter then what I asked for.. I asked her to clean up my curtain bangs instead she gave me uneven bangs. Also, she combed out my hair so uneven and then started to cut freely without any guidance. Lastly, she blowed dried my hair and then asked if I wanted it straighten out. I said yes. She burnt my right ear. She also spent more time cutting my right side which turned out to be super choppy and uneven. I still tipped her because at first glance it looked okay and she was an elderly and she was nice to me. I went home and saw how bad it really was so I cut a little bit to make it even. But I'm still not happy I spent $65 just so I can fix it myself. Honestly, this was the worst hair experience I had. I don't recommend this place or at least being a last minute walk in. Since the mall closed at 9pm I assumed the salon would close the same time. It actually closed 3 hours earlier.

Hair stylist themselves were very kind people. But I had to go to the hair salon three times in a row to try and get my hair fixed after asking for a balayage. By the third time I called because I was still not satisfied with what my hair looked like and the manager was rude about it, but I was able to get my money back. Now I am left with trying to bring my hair back to health since it is now very damaged.

So disappointed. I saw a color specialist to correct my orangey hair and ended up with more orange hair and brighter orange than before. Hair falling out and broken. Dry and disgusting bight orange. I hate orange, red, brass, copper hair! I feel so blah. So much for looking amazing with hubby in Hawaii on our 19th Anniversary...I asked before we started if it could be fixed and was assured it could be. I spoke to the salon manager and she made things right as much as she could. My hairs condition can't be undone though unfortunately.

I am a regular customer to JC Penny Salon at the 5th Avenue Mall. I book my visits with Magaloy who specializes not only how you want your hair but knows how to move forward and have an idea if your one of the people like me who needs a fancy cut and not sure of the names of the types of haircut. She has been my hair stylist for a year and I hope she stays long because she is the only one I trust with my hair. I recommend my family and friends all the time.Services: Hair coloring

Worst service I ever had at a salon. The front desk was rude and made me feel they weren’t a place of service but the customer is lucky to be seen by them. I asked for haircut with shampoo and style. The stylist was a native blonde and was so rude as well. She did the most basic haircut I’ve ever had, jus a straight across cut. Didn’t get a shampoo or style and was charged $40 for the worst haircut.Service: Haircut

Update: 8/6/22 This evening after going to church at the cathedral, I tried one last time to buy a Paul Mitchell haircare product (Wax Works) that I have been purchasing here for many years. Again, ALL of the shelves were half empty and the salon's retail section looked out of business. I got borderline snark from the girl "working" the counter- yet she was goofy friendly with my husband. I'm done trying with this place.Selection and availability with haircare supplies has been very low for approx. a year and a half now. The shelves have been empty my last 3 visits including today. I would love to shop online for JC Penney salon products but having tried that once and the item taking 4 to 6 weeks to arrive, I am no longer interested. I am now forced to go to Ulta Beauty, but they do not carry everything that the JC Penney Salon did. I miss the sales with the buy one get one half off, etc., at the salon. If JC Penney wishes for more customer traffic downtown, then pump up the volume! When I asked last evening about the short supply, I was told "We don't order. It just automatically comes in." ???

I’ve gotten my hair done here for 15 years. I’ve never had an issue. Samantha, Connie, and all the sweet little old gals that are there are always friendly and listen! This photo is my last cut and color I had done! I loved it. Going back this week for a new color.Services: Hair coloring
