Caution! 15 years living in multiple places while traveling on business, and this is the worst. The bathtub is a tripping hazard, because it is one foot over the bathroom floor. A 15 story building with one of two elevators functioning, and long-term tenants have been waiting months for the other to be repaired. A deteriorated parking lot, torn entrance curtain, terrible wall repair, and paint on the carpet, show the poor care and lack of maintenance. The sales pitch and pictures are 100% false advertisement. Not a safe area!!!

So this place is no longer a hotel but is converting to beautiful efficiencies overlooking the Inlet and my ancestor, "The Seeping Lady..." the rooms available are renovated, beautiful, practical and clean. There is a bar called "AKME" which provides good food and drinks in the evening. On Saturday and Sunday breakfast is available to purchase ? During the weekday the International House of Hotdogs which is affordable and yummy is open during lunch hours... I don't expect this place to have vacancies very long... the rebranding is in full effect and full of promise of good things.
Nearby activities: Park and walking trails nearby...
Walkability: 10 minutes from downtown.
Food & drinks: Sundays AKME Pubhouse has a margarita buffet with crepe breakfast ? across the way is the
International House of Hotdogs ?

So dirty. Two residents there, so crooked. 1 tenant told another to tell me he was security (impersonating a security guard). Isn't there a law against that. Felons

A true disappointment, homeless shelter at best. Filthy room, broken bed and drunks everywhere.
I used to stay here all the time. So disappointed.
The good news is, no need to call the police they were there when I checked in throwing a drunk out and there when I checked out for a public disturbance.
Noteworthy details: Do Not Stay Here

I've lived here my whole life. My mom used to actually work in the restaurant part of the hotel long ago. But since then, I've sure it has changed many hands & owners with different ideas. The two main themes that tended to stick most over the years would be the "Alaskan tourists taking full advantage of/& pushing their inlet view and other attractions in the city. Almost with a hostel or apartment feel to it cause there are live- ins there. An overall tourist hippy vibe. The second is the want to be the over the top Ritz type. Clean cut. trendy. With high-class feel and high-class people. the glitzy upscale. These ideas are 2 polar opposites, but over the years, they've morphed together landing somewhere between the two. It's got a great view in a nice part of downtown. Rooms are good size. There's a restaurant and an outside gazebo hang out area that's big. And quite cozy even in winter. New Sagaya is literally a hop across the street, Which is a very hipster whole foods type w/Asian cuisine and really all world food items. Very vegan, gluten-free, fair trade kinda market. Hot food to go also. The last time I was recently there the whole lobby was under mass construction so for giving you my opinion of inside the hotel wouldn't be fair (yet) new owners with new ideas or just updates are at it so we will see how it goes a Lil better once there done.
