Wow times have changed. We are tourists here for a few months and we politely asked for 2 rolls of quarters to do our laundry. They wouldn't give them to us. You know it is the little things we have lost as a culture. That was an easy win for you folks - and you dropped the ball. NO stars. We have choices - that of being blind bureaucrats or real people.

In 2008, my husband and I were buying a new home and we were asked by a family friend if they could carry our mortgage as an investment. We set up an escrow account with First National Bank Alaska. We were told that we would be able to make extra payments in addition to the automatic payments. Through the years making extra payments has been a problem. When we send extra payments in unless they are processed by the correct person the bank will send us a notice that we have authorized a change in our automatic payment. In recent years, we have included a detailed letter with each payment explaining that we do not authorize a change to our automatic payment. When we made a payment in April of this year it was processed perfectly but when we made a payment last week we were notified that our automatic payment would be changed. I called the bank this morning and spoke with the Escrow Supervisor and I was told that there was nothing she could do because the computer just sent out the letters. I know this is false because the payment has occasionally been made correctly in the past. I believe a supervisor in the Escrow Department should know this fact. In an effort to cover their mistake, she told me a falsehood. This department needs to correct this situation so that payments are deposited correctly. If the company takes customer service seriously they would see to it that the correct procedure is taught to the employees making the deposit. It feels like fraud for a bank to put so many barriers in place to paying off an account balance early.
