Family Review - I should have read some of the earlier reviews, but the employee/owner (?) was rude. Yelled at our son, who was friends with one of the featured artists and wanted to tell him he saw his work. For Locals? No, not a true art gallery, just a tacky tourist shop with crudely printed posters and magnets. For Tourists? No, while it sell stuff tourist might like, the fake pretentious nature of being an "Art Gallery" means they are charging prices that are much higher. For Families? No, not a place to bring families? For Kids? No, the employee yelled at our kid for no good reason.

A small but nice gallery in the heart of downtown Anchorage. With prices ranging from to high to affordable, there is a smaller bit wide ranging selection of art focused on Alaska (of course). Much of the beautiful art is Native themed or created. I recommend their selection of wood block prints. The staff is helpful and informative. They ship with UPS if you are visiting from elsewhere.

They kept my layaway longer for me because I needed the extra time and I'm very grateful :) The huge ivory carved bear by Roger Silook is amazing! Many friends have seen it and are equally impressed! Great gallery with a great staff and so many beautiful works of art!Thank you! :)

Great Service | Beautiful Alaskan ArtChad was very kind and helpful. He knew personal details about every artist I asked about and encouraged us to walk around the gallery. Aurora is owned by an Alaskan family and features beautiful Alaskan Art. I bet Chad or his son Max would be happy to see you there.Hours may vary due to the ongoing pandemic.

Not a pleasant experience, I thought my situation and interaction was unique but appearently it's the same with the other reviewers. As an artist myself not sure this is where I would host my art especially if the female employee I saw yelling at other customers who were asking for an artists contact for a work they wanted to buy is anything but normal here.

In full disclosure, I have not bought anything from this gallery. I often visit and appreciate that they highlight many local artists. Last time I was there I inquired about a piece from a local artist and was shocked at the cost. They literally doubled the cost of a piece that I could find by the same artist in many other galleries. I have since come to learn that they do not have good relationships with some of their artists. Their prices are too high and best to go directly to the artist when you can. Do your homework before you buy from them. There is no reason to overpay for art.

Always a great experience! Great representation of many talented local artists and adds a dash of class to downtown!

Lady should be lobbying for the open pit Pebble Mine instead of degrading art. You can't have both.

I recently moved to Fairbanks and took a trip down here since I was looking for a gallery to showcase some of my artwork, but the employees here didn't have any personality just acted like they wanted their shift to be over, and then some rude lady was questioning me about my art, like it was police interrogation. I thought she was some crazy customer who didn't know anything about art and wanted to understand more of my process. It was only later I found out she was the manager or owner.

Sad, they call themselves a fine art gallery but there is nothing "fine" art about this place. Half the stuff here is ugly, low resolution photographs, very touristy in nature like souvenir shops trying to sell cheap photos and postcards. And the other stuff is crude stuff. The few good items made by local artisans, well I feel bad for them. I am in town to do research for my history book on Anchorage and interviewing and showcasing local artists would have been great to include in the book, Unfortunately the staff refused to give me the contact information of the artists they feature and if I tried to take a picture of the business cards of the artists they threaten to kick me out. What are they afraid I am some other gallery who would snipe up their artists? I won't be surprised if that was the case since these artists deserve to be featured in a real art gallery not some tacky tourist giftshop.

I would not recommend doing business with this entity due to the unwarranted abrasive and prejudice practices of the Owner/Manager, Diane.

A really unnecessarily unfriendly owner! Too bad and so unfortunate....especially for the artists who have their work on display there. I typically do not give reviews but I felt the way we as guests in the store with a genuine interest in several of the artists were treated that it really motivated me to want to spread word-of-mouth for others to go elsewhere for a better experience. Looking at art and buying is always certainly more enjoyable when there is a friendly and knowledgeable staff member/owner to enhance the shopping experience.
