For the first time in 30 plus years I purchased some pig feet and made them in my crockpot. My roommate ate them and left bones on his plate where my 1 year old chihuahua jumped on the bed and ate the bones whole swallowing the knuckles which were round and smaller than a penny. Next day my dog was throwing up small knuckles, became less playful and didn’t want to eat. It being a Saturday, there were no vets. I was recommended this place. They were nice but OMG!!!! That female doctor had a very good sales pitch for blood work for “pancreatitis” and an x-ray. I declined the blood work because me being a RN (Registered Nurse) I was like…are you serious?! The x-rays did show the small bones in my dog’s stomach and some in his colon. When the doctor came back she explained he needed surgery to remove the bones costing $6000 to $7000. WHO HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY THESE DAYS?!! I declined the surgery and paid $450 for the visit and x-ray. I cried thinking my dog was doomed. There was a pretty light-skinned black girl who said “get some pumpkin in a can (not pumpkin pie filling) and bread to see if he would pass them. I also went to the university of Google and YouTube. Gave my dog pumpkin with a small amount of Vaseline to coat his stomach and help with passing the bones. I also purchased an enema just to have on deck. Next day….my dog pooped so much and passed the bones with ease. He is now back to being a hyper chihuahua, playing with his sister, eating and fetching his squeaky ball. I then thought to myself, “Why would they go straight to an invasive procedure instead of going from least invasive to invasive”? The answer…..MONEY!!!!!!! To the light-skinned black girl….thank you for your free advice and kissing my dog so lovingly. To the doctor/vet….SHAME ON YOU!!!!! Thank goodness my dog doesn’t have an unnecessary zipper on his abdomen for no damn reason! I give this place a - 0 !!!!!!

I have an extremely accident prone dachshund that ate kitty litter tonight. I brought him in tonight to induce vomiting and they had us in and out in less than 30 mins. They place was super clean and staff was very attentive. Definitely recommended!

I can’t begin to thank Emergency pet Care enough for taking care of my dog Diesel. The veterinarians , techs , and staff were wonderful. Thank you.

We’ve taken our dog in twice and called multiple times about something weird that one of our cats has eaten or chewed and I cannot say enough good things about them. Every staff member or vet we’ve interacted with has been incredibly kind, compassionate, caring & knowledgeable. The last time we went in at 3 am because our corgi had a seizure. We were emotional and exhausted and they walked us through everything and gave him meds for seizures. Happy to report our corgi is doing much better now.

I have never had such a poor experience with animal care. I had to bring my cat in for a UTI/obstruction. The blonde front desk woman was incredibly rude and passive aggressive the entire time. Any question I asked was an inconvenience to her.
I got back to a room and the vet confirms the UTI/obstruction and lets us know that not all cats survive this procedure. I've never heard this from a vet previously and it instantly puts me on edge.
I sign a hefty bill for overnight care and was responsible to transferring my cat in between a day clinic and this ER for two days. $2k later and the ER says my cat is good to be discharged. I ask if my cat still has any kind of crystallization and they say, "No, he's fine. He can urinate on his own". I did not realize that they did not confirm that he no longer had a blockage.
Come to today where my cat is lethargic and not eating/drinking/urinating. I take him to a REAL ER (Steel City Vets, they are much better and actually care about your animal) and they say he is still obstructed. I essentially paid roughly $2,000 for nothing since the vets don't care enough to confirm that my pet didn't get any better.
Save your money and go somewhere with better service and with professionals who care.

It was extremely expensive, but my dog received excellent care and the staff was very kind, putting me at ease during a stressful time. They explained everything they did beforehand and gave a cost estimate before doing anything so there were no surprises with the bill. Definitely a great resource to have if you have a true emergency.

Had a great experience though it was one of the scariest times. Piper was bitten by a venomous snake. I called the clinic frantic and they got me in immediately. The whole staff was kind, and their intensive efforts saved my girl. She came home the next day. Dr. Mayne took the time to explain what to expect during Piper’s recovery and reassured me.

Staff was extremely kind and compassionate as our 17+ year old cat was euthanized due to sudden loss of all functions including ability to stand, eat, and breathe. Clinic was very busy but techs were patient, kind and comforting.

I had to go here one Saturday morning because my 12 year old dog with lung cancer started really declining quickly & struggling to breathe. My normal vet was closed. They went above and beyond to make me comfortable, and my dog, and to really lay out all the options for me. The vet was honest instead of money hungry like many places. I cannot thank these people enough for the true kindness they showed me that day. All of those women showed me love on the hardest day I have ever had and I am eternally grateful. Had also went here another time for a much less serious situation with a kitten and had a great experience too. Cannot recommend them enough.

Update: So when a dog is bleeding everywhere is not an ER issue as you call it. I, as a pet owner do not care what the cost is but being refused service is really appalling...
I brought my dog in and he is bleeding and they said their was nothing they could do because it was cosmetic! If I could share pictures I would. There's blood on him, me, the inside of my car and now on the bed. I am attempting to bandage it but he doesn't want that. I cannot believe that the vet never came in to see him. I will NEVER use them again! We have used them several times previously and they were extremely helpful. This is from a VERY aggravated daddy....

The doctor was nice but the two women I saw were very rude! I think ones name was Lindsay. She had the nerve to yell at me. I left and went to another emergency vet. They were very sweet and euthanized the feral cat I brought in that was in bad shape.

This is the best emergency vet in the state if you ask me. I called about 45 mins out and they were aware and ready for my sweet babygirl Athena. The communication they have is over the top amazing. They explain everything really well and break it down for you. The pricing is fair and they communicate it well. They took good care of our pup. I would recommend them to anyone with an emergency going on. Thank you Emergency Pet Care!
