Doesn’t matter that I spend tens of thousands of dollars in this store every year. Anyone should walk in and get the same service. This weekend crew is trash. Saturday 9/23/23. 5 employees and not a bit of service. Still spent $350 before I got sick of it and left because I drove 30min to shop there. I’ll order the rest of the gear I need for my Wyoming work trip online or stop by Academy. If you don’t want to work weekends get a bank job or just stay home. To end on a positive note. Van and the week day crew are awesome.

Enjoyed shopping here and had a good selection to choose from for men's boots and clothes. Women's boots selection isn't as big as men's. Also couldn't find the size I wear on many of the options. I wear a large size shoe so that's a normal occurrence.

Both locations have horrible service. The Wharf has staff who always welcomes you and assists you. Neither location of Ervin’s does anything to help the customer. There are several African American patrons who shop the Skyland location, they treat blacks as if they’ve seen ghosts. Oh and don’t buy any sale item and try to exchange, because they will tell you that all sales are final. But there’s no indication of this according to signage. They should display that, so you know before you purchase. Never shop a store that doesn’t offer refunds. Academy Sports has better customer service than these 2 dumps. The Skyland location also has a poor selection of clothing. I used to frequent both stores until they lied about an exchange.

When it comes to boots and the selection I can only recommend Ervins and only one other place in Tuscaloosa.Hands down the best place to shop for boots the selection of work wear is crazy large. And someone readily available for help and questions.

I ordered a pair of Double H ROY COMP TOE DH5246 work boots from Ervin’s because they are most comfortable work boots I’ve been able to wear. I walk 12000 to 14000 steps per day. I bought my first pair at a store in San Antonio, Texas where i live. They were not able to get the same model again so i found them online at Ervin’s. I ordered the exact model and size as my original pair. They were reasonably priced n i recd them within a few days. I unpackaged them, set them out to put on the next morning n threw away the box as the recycle trash was to be picked up the following morning. Sadly, the exact size, brand n model fit much differently than my original pair, much smaller n way to tight to “break in” to fit. I called Ervins that same morning as soon as they opened and told the young lady that answered the phone my situation and she told me that the person that handles returns and online orders was off for the day and would call me the following day. I waited till the end of the next business day without a return call, so I called. I I was told since I threw the box away there was no way to return a brand new unworn pair of boots. I wasn’t even asking for my money back. I just wanted a different size that they would fit. The person on the phone was rude. I would not figure out a way to accommodate me. He said, without the original box that he could not return the boots. I’ve bought many pairs of brand new boots at big chain stores without the original box without any issues. This is just a case of terrible customer service, and unwillingness to accommodate me. Needless to say, I will never order another pair of boots from Ervin’s nor do I recommend anybody to feel safe about purchasing a pair of boots there.

The employees were super nice and after going to four different sporting goods stores with no luck, they actually had what we were looking for at a better price than the prices on the empty shelves of Academy, Woods and Water, the Wharf, and I cannot, for the life of me remember the other store. I think the next time I'm looking for something, I'll check Ervin's first.
