I recently took my 12 year old dog in for chronic ear infection and skin allergy . The vet suggested a skin scrape for mange, I felt it wasn't necessary beacuse of my dogs history but I let them do it anyway.$. I was prescribed meds for the infection and allergy and scheduled a follow up in a week. No improvement. The next visit, it was suggested that I try a medicated shampoo and different pill for the skin allergy. Over the next few days the shampoo did the trick. The ear infection remained. Also during the 2nd visit, it was recommended that my dog have a flea and tick treatment, (Nexguard) which I purchased on the spot. I should have asked for a prescription because it's $50 less at Petsmart. Here is why I gave a 1 star rating. About 10 days after I purchased the Nexguard (Boehringer), I received a $10 "rebate" in the form of a rechargeable debit card. I never filled out a rebate form? I went back to Best Friends and inquired about the card. They had submitted the rebate without my knowledge! Now I have received additonal unsolicted advertisement in the mail as Boehringer has my information and according to thier terms of use, they can distrubute that information for marketing purposes. I was told by the staff, Best Friends is now corporate owned. I was also refused a refund for the Nexguard even though the box was unopened. We will be looking for a new vet.

These are the nicest and most caring people you could ever trust with your pet. Dr. Agnew and all the techs were wonderful when the sad day that I had dreaded came. They treated me and my beloved dog Pup Pup with so much respect and love as they sat with us as I cried over having to say my goodbyes. We all gathered as we sat with Pup Pup as Dr. Agnew explained what she would do,, and gently proceeded to put her to sleep. They told me, I could stay as long as I needed and comforted me in such a sweet way. They even made arrangements, that I requested to have PAWS come pick her up for cremation and return her for me to pick up. This is something no one wants to face, but when the time does come, it’s comforting to know that you do have the most professional, comforting and caring Doctors and Staff at Best Friends Animal Hospital. Thank you so much Dr. Agnew and the entire Staff for helping me and my Pup Pup get through such a difficult day. I appreciate so much everything you all did that day.

I've been taking my 3 dogs here for 6 years. They always get me in when I have concerns. They never push services on me, but they do let me know what is available. I moved to Owens Cross Roads 2yrs ago and still drive back to Madison for all of their veterinary needs.

I love Best Friends! Everyone is so kind and helpful and show much love to my dog. She can be protective and they earn her trust and make her feel comfortable! I would recommend this practice to everyone!

The front desk staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor and staff are very caring with my dog. They take their time letting her get to know them. This visit, blood labs were run and the results were carefully explained to me. I couldn’t be more happy with the care my dog receives. And the military discount is another plus.

Dr. Racelis and his staff are wonderful! They treat our pups as if they are their own. They are kind, thoughtful, prompt, and always go the extra mile to make sure we understand the diagnosis. I highly recommend them!

My visit might have been time consuming because I was making a critical decision based on their info/advice. I was given kind and thoughtful guidance by entire staff, especially veterinarian. Guidance provided; questions answered; solutions suggested.

Dr. Racelis and his staff have always been very kind, thoughtful and thorough through the years. I have used Best Friends to care for my last two babies Seymore and Seymone who have now passed on. Now, my new baby Sir-Jonah gets to join the Best Friends pack too! So this mama is excited! I honestly believe Dr. Racelis and his team are the best and the only Veterinarian clinic I will trust with my babies. If you choose to come here, you will be in good hands?

I recently moved to Madison, AL. One of my pets is a rescue I found abandoned. He's a 90lb dog with lots of trauma & everyone was so patient & understanding when he was visibly stressed out at the vets office. I will continue to bring him back so he can see how much love these people have for him & that not all strangers are out to harm him. It's a slow process for abused dogs to trust people again but I see the staff will do everything they can to help with his healing. Thank you.

Best Friends has always taken very good care of my Bella and now my Otis. I can tell they really love furry babies there, and they treat my babies like family. Both of my dogs are rescues and Best Friends has helped me keep them happy and healthy. Highly recommended!

I have no problems with Dr. Racellis or his staff. Your notification system needs work. I got an email saying that Rainy was due for annual check and she was just in there a month or two ago.

Dr. Racelis is the best. He was so caring when we lost our best dog.
