Outstanding Professional Help We found Companion Animal Care about five years ago when my wife and I moved to Huntsville and needed various services for our senior King Charles Cavalier, Rex. Through a number of medical issues that Rex had over the years, Dr. David Alford and his caring staff were always attentive to Rex's (and our) needs and provided expert and empathetic care and advice that helped keep him safe and healthy. Then on April 3, 2024 Rex was severely mauled by a Doberman and his life hung in the balance. Dr. Rhonda Buxton, who was a recent addition to the Companion staff, immediately took charge of the situation. As Rex battled for his life, Dr. Buxton and the staff repeatedly worked on keeping him alive, comfortable, and stable in his recovery. When he took a turn for the worse and we made the difficult decision that it was time to lovingly say goodbye, Dr. Buxton helped ease him out of his pain. With my wife Nancy and I in attendance, we said our goodbyes to the little guy. Throughout the whole experience, the staff at Companion Animal Clinic was exceptionally empathetic and professional, making that period more bearable for Nancy and me. We can't recommend Companion Animal Care highly enough. Lee Hefner Nancy Wasson

July 2023 by Melissa C.
Due to an incident involving my dog on Friday, July 7, 2023, after over 2 years of bringing him to Companion, and loving the vets and staff there, I have decided that it is in my dog's best interest, to find a more competent clinic. My dog's declaw was pulled out during a routine nail trim, and no one could explain to me what happened. I was told that "it took 4 people to trim his nails", and I was also charged double. My dog is a rescue, and has PTSD and anxiety, and is on medication for both. I had given him his medication an hour prior to his visit. As a veterinarian assistant myself, I am well trained in the fact that; 1. A routine nail trim requires one person to hold the dog, while another person does the nails. 2. With a dog that has any kind of anxiety issues, especially a rescue, "less is more", you DO NOT create an environment that causes the dog MORE anxiety (so why 4 people were on my dog is beyond me). My dog is 4 years old, barely weighs 50 lbs., and is no taller than my knee. I still, as of today, Tuesday, July 11, 2023, have not received an explanation, or an apology, or even a reimbursement for the money I spent on the visit in which my dog was injured. Also, he was given nothing for pain, nor was I given anything to take home with him in case of pain, due to the negligence that took place.

We have been bringing our dogs to Companion Animal care for years. Had no problems until today. My daughter who has a chronic decease . She has two small children and lives over 20 miles a way was going to be late at the groomers . In the past we have rescheduled two times and also two times was a few minutes late dropping him off with all the other dogs at the same time . But, always tried to tip generously to the groomer even when we were unsatisfied a couple of times with his cut. A couple of times McCoy had a eye infection and another time a cut on his sanitary from being groomed and we had to have him put on antibiotics. We never complained about the groomer because we know accidents can happen. Today, my daughter heard the groomer talking about us because the person thought she had put my daughter on hold. It was so harsh and so offending to my daughter and really hurts us as a family that she would have the rudest and so hateful responses. She said she would no longer take McCoy. We didn't deserve this treatment. We have spent thousands at this office and have Never had conflict and the way the office and the groomer treated us is heartbreaking. One more thing.. dogs are to be dropped off between 7:30-8:00. She would've been there at 8:25. I recommend that you make sure where you take your dog is a place of understanding. We would've paid a late charge to the groomer or even if it had been said professionally by the office staff and groomer. We are crushed . Now we are trying to find a veterinarian. I was in the cancer center all day hearing my daughter cry over the phone .

I hate to leave such a bad review but I had a horrible experience here. The staff was very kind so this is nothing involving bad customer service. I have a very rare bird. I took him here for grooming ( beak, wing, and nail trim). I should have known by his screaming and crying something was horribly wrong. They clipped his wings so much that they were bleeding! It was horrific. They still have yet to grow back and that was 5 months ago. I think they permanently damaged his wings. I think that they are either incompetent or just don't care. The place smelled sooooooooo bad, like cat hair and urine. It was very unclean. Unfortunately, I could never recommend this Vet nor would I EVER come back here!!! I feel like reporting them!

We've been going to this vet for almost 5 years. Everyone is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We've had only good experiences here with our three pets.

Overall good. Workers are friendly and always helpful when I call. I went in today when they were posted as open bc my dog needed help and no one was there and had to go elsewhere and like the new place better. Older male vet I had to request to not have again, younger guy is much friendlier.
