I will speak up loud & clearly. I loved the fact this is a “no kill shelter”. I thank God that although my babies were illegally picked up only bc a woman set them up & called Animal Control to complain (yes I have proof) that they were in her garbage (lies). I was told by Animal Control they were found on a busy highway alone. (Also lies) No one knows your babies like you. Especially ME!! I hear now they have put out in the paper there will be changes & it will not be a “no kill” shelter. It’s not the kind ladies who has been in charge, faults. No, this a bigger issue. One I disagree with. Resources or no resources.I could really get into depth about how angry I am at everything that took place with me bc it was all bogus! I won’t though. I simply want to say the lady who runs it saved me from gut wrenching pain. My tears soaked my pillow the night my babies didn’t show up wagging their tails to meet me. But they had already been threatened so I knew even BEFORE I knew. Thankfully the staff at the county shelter knew they weren’t being abused or in any type of danger. They were smart enough to know the owner would come looking bc they were too healthy. They weren’t even there 24 hours & they gave them back with zero issue. God bless her heart for actually making differences in ppls lives. Enduring criticism at every turn bc they try to do what’s best & right for the babies there & all those brought in or surrendered. I pray nothing but favor & good fortune on all who work at the WC Animal Shelter who try to make those babies feel some type of love & acceptance. My babies have now been traumatized due to the the ridiculous reasons they were taken in. But lovingly & prayerfully we will work our way back toward healing. And for all the love you guys showed me for loving & caring for all these babies properly I’ll never forget you for it. While some destroyed my faith in humanity a little more, surprisingly you all lifted & increased my faith in the human race a great deal more. I didn’t truly know ppl like you existed at shelters or any other area of our county like this. However, I’ve met quite a few following up on this situation that is helping restore my faith & belief that there are others out there just like me yet in places of power. They too are tired of things being handled any old way. It’s time to make our county accountable by actions, works & deeds & not by their so called “word & stories alone!” Forever grateful to you all at the county shelter ran by Kay…..all my love bc I get it.

We contacted this walker county humane and adoption center looking for honest answers and honest help. We had a puppy that was literally dropped off by someone we don't know who but it was sick and wouldn't eat so we called this place asking what we should do and they gave us some advice but then acted like we don't take care of our animals and if the woman had of listened correctly she would have heard the fact that it was NOT our puppy and it had just walked up that morning and we called this place as soon as they opened only to get someone who wouldn't help us and the advice she gave wasn't very helpful and definitely was disrespectful. We simply didn't know what to do with this stray puppy that had came from no telling where and it had literally just came up the morning we called this place but instead the woman wanted to say they can't contaminate the other animals and that we needed to take care of our own animals! We have ALWAYS taken care of every animal we have ever had and they have always been taken to the vet and been loved and played with and treated like one of our own family members! We didn't know this puppy and didn't know what to do and I thought it was very rude of her to say we should take care of our own animals and there was nothing she could or would do!! I thought that was what this place was there for to help animals and or help find them shelter if need be. Neither of which was offered to us!

Rude unprofessional staff that wouldn't give out her name because I was going to file a complaint. If you think everybody turning in a dog is a bad person then maybe you shouldn't work at a no kill shelter. O and to answer your question yes if one of my kids killed another beloved family member for no reason they would not longer be welcome in my home. Killing a family member for no reason is where I draw the line. Back story for everyone a dog my kid's mother got from here killed the family cat. I tired surrendering the dog and the rude lady asked if I would just get rid of one of my kids. That I shouldn't get a dog if I'm not going to keep it. Lady you are a Karen and a coward. You see my name up at the top of this review; look for the same name on the complaint cause you don't talk to people like that. UPDATE: I wasn't rude even after you brought my children into it. I was told by a volunteer after I called back that it was the manager I spoke with. There was no problem with the fact that yall couldn't help. The problem is your attitude and how you treat people. You wouldn't even tell me your name because I told you I would file a complaint. Well fortunately freedom of information and all that. So I'm going to be at the board meeting tomorrow at noon with your bosses since it's open to the public.

This is a NO Kill shelter which made my rescue much less painful. I dropped off a stray female 4-6 month shepherd brindle mix puppy today that was hanging out on my front porch near S. Dowdey and Summerville Rd. Jasper, AL for 2 days; I fed/water her. If you have lost your puppy she is identified as "Bonnie" at the shelter. I spoke to Joy at the front desk, she was very compassionate and helpful. Thank you for all you do to help rescues.**See photos section of the stray with blue blanket on my front porch ?

I adore the staff. Both ladies were very helpful and you can tell they really love what they are doing. I can’t stress enough… adopt don’t shop!!!! My little orange tabby was all by itself the day o adopted her. Wouldn’t take nothing for her.❤️❤️❤️❤️

I won’t say names, but awhile back I had to bring in two pups that I had found abandoned and starved on the side of the road. I kept them for a month or so and tried my best to find them homes with no luck. I got them back to a decent weight and had them wormed. We were moving and I could not keep them any longer and my neighbors were threatening to harm them. I was a BASKET CASE on the way to take them and months later I still think about them (hence making this post ?). I didn’t even finish the paperwork before I started crying. Anyways, upon arriving to drop them off, the lady that was there was incredibly rude. She insinuated that I was lying about picking them up a month prior and about the dogs still being puppies. I understand not supporting people that surrender their animals to the shelter - I don’t support it either and I never thought I would have to, but there are situations that it’s not any fault of the person surrendering them. The attitude I received from the person there that day could be the reason the person dumped them on the side of the road in the first place instead of taking them to somewhere they could at least get food, water, and shelter. I’ll still support the shelter when I can, but please do better with this.
