I watched this school being built years ago. I attempted to apply to work there at the time but it did not feel right. But recently after Dr. Sullivan became the new owner and hands on administrator I saw a new light at Children's Lighthouse! I have found the Early School I hope the retire from. The 401k program meets my needs. The curriculum is challenging and as a teacher with a graduate degree and almost 30 years of experience I am excited to work at a school that is more than just "baby sitting". Having a full time Curriculum Director on staff is amazing. Working at a school that utilizes my certifications in special needs and Early Intervention for children birth to age three is refreshing. I am able to help children that otherwise would be expelled from other centers. And I get to have FUN!

DO NOT SEEK EMPLOYMENT HERE OR ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I WOULD PUT 0 STARS IF I COULD!!This establishment is by far the most unprofessional, unorganized, and unappreciative place of business. The management team is unreliable and doesn't consider anything. When hired, I couldn't clock in and out for about two months. I agreed to a pay rate and once I was finally able to access the time clocks, I noticed that I was being underpaid. I pressed this issue to Brittney F. multiple times via text and in person. This was brushed off multiple times and she told others that we NEVER discussed this. Another month went by before this was fixed. I shouldn't have to beg for anything that was offered to me. I've been here 5 months and have yet to receive a uniform as well.Communication has always been off. They schedule staff meetings and don't let the staff know until the week of. They leave us in the classroom with 18+ kids alone, which is over ratio for the majority of us. When DHR comes, they try to rush and abide by all the policies knowing that they don't do this on the regular. I almost forgot to mention that they were placed on "Corrective Action" for leaving a student on a school bus earlier in the year.Patricia D. was hired about a month into my employment. She continuously made "nice-nasty" comments to employees. She told someone that they needed to " BOW DOWN" to her. She also told potential new hires that she intended to " clean house" and get a new staff. In the past two weeks, two of the best employees had to pick between their health and being employed. This should never be an issue! On top of that, she has hired 4-6 people from her old establishment to replace the ones who have been working for the company for years. Don't let the reviews fool you! The majority are from the previous staff or the front team management. You should believe those 1-2 star reviews. This establishment has a lot of children that need special accomodations. Some may have ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or maybe just need guidance here and there. If that sounds like your child, This is definitely not the place for them. They will allow you to enroll the child and eventually kick them out for no reason. They rarely use "Incident Reports" and when they do, most parents never see them. They allow children to bite other children all over and never do anything about it. You're paying $280 weekly per child for what? The curriculum isn't being taught because we're always over ratio or we're in the wrong classrooms. They are eating two chicken nuggets, a scoop of fruit, and applesauce for lunch & aren't given seconds even if they ask. ( NOT BASHING THE KITCHEN LADY, It's out of her control)Overall, This place is poorly run and will probably not be open for business much longer.

My daughter started here in August of 2022, and has always loved coming to school, loved seeing her teachers, and classmates. All of this was until about 2 months ago when they got a new director named Patricia. From the first day of meeting this lady, I knew something wasn’t right about her and could not put my finger on it. Fast forward to the last 2-3 weeks, she has been having other staff to contact me at work about my 2 year olds behavior, and MAKING employees write and sign their name in a notebook she has specifically for my daughter. My daughter is very smart, friendly, but also very active. My daughter has been able to open the back door to her classroom on more than one occasion and run outside, because ALL of the doors in the classrooms are left unlocked! My daughter has also managed to run as far as to the front door, but how would that happen if someone is always supposed to be at the desk, if the new director wasn’t running away employees leaving them short staffed and always out of ratio. So on this past Thursday August 24th the director had another employee to put a letter in my daughter backpack stating that they will no longer accept her there at their facility. Just the week before, I popped up to the daycare because I was made aware of the new director interactions with my daughter and making statements to her teachers like, “I’m going to get Zhori in line or else.” That’s a threat against a toddler who’s still learning right from wrong, and not to mention all kids pick up behaviors from other kids at some point. She has been avoiding me, and acts like my daughter has been stabbing people or drawing blood from everyone when all my daughter has done was be a baby, a toddler and she was punished unfairly all because of an impatient, aggressive, careless, nonprofessional, and intimidated adult. The teachers work hard and I truly feel sorry for them because they are great!!!! However, this new director will be the great demise of this establishment!

First I want to start by saying we started here a year ago and everything was great. They were very accommodating and all the teachers my child had were and still are great. Fast forward to this summer things started going down hill very quickly. The old director was replaced by a new director who quite frankly isn't very warm and welcoming. I've stood at the front for 5 minutes before bringing cleaning supplies (which you think would be provided), while she was ignoring me. Tuition is increasing, but they can't even provide enough cleaning supplies. BTW the daycare down the road is nicer for less of a price. Two of my child's teachers just in her class were let go in less than 2 weeks, and it already seemed like they were short staffed. They also sent out an email to all of the parents letting us know "lead teacher in room 3 is no longer employed at Childrens Lighthouse Hoover" BEFORE the teacher was even made aware of that. The cameras only seem to work about half of the time, because their wifi is always down. The only reason we stayed as long as we did after the new director was because of the teachers. As of today which is the last day my children attended i'd give this daycare a 1 star, up until this summer id give it a 5 stars. Also all the teachers deserve 5 stars, management is 1 star.

My child's experience here was nothing short of terrible. After several weeks of trying to help him adjust to the new school, he started to regress on sleeping (would not nap at school even though he naps great at home and past schools) and started wanting bottles again. He also started to panic and scream just seeing the building. I tried to discuss this with the director but recieved dismissive replies including that his teacher felt he was making good progress (what?). I suspected something had happened in his classroom and requested to see playback of video in his room. I was given multiple excuses from "wifi is out", "the old director had the password", and "we got a new server" as why they couldn't present video that they advertise is available to parents. If you want peace of mind that your child is in a safe, loving environment while you are at work, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

We are truly thankful for the experience our kid had for almost 1 year attending CLH, doing preK with Ms Sandy was the best! He improved his language skills (we are from Mexico) and now he’s a little bookworm ?

If I could leave no stars I would. My child had been apart of this awful place and got mistreated terribly. Neglected and even got sick. I am in absolute shock that the place I trusted my child to be apart of would treat her so terribly. Will NEVER recommend this place to a family who loves their child.

They are really patient and have worked with my baby. The facility is always clean and secure. And I love the ability to check on him via secure cameras and the updates about his day.

Children’s Lighthouse of Hoover is a great establishment. They genuinely care for the kids enrolled and treat them as family. When I drop off my son I feel comfortable knowing the Lighthouse family is taking good care of him. I have no worries. The staff is amazing, professional, and helpful in meeting my needs or my sons needs. Do yourself a favor and enroll your child or children. You will not be disappointed.

Went in to chat with signing my son up in February, they said they have an opening in mid March, filled out paperwork, left a $50 cash deposit, never received a phone call, will not return phone messages asking about his start date and emails sent requesting a refund go unanswered as well. Its now almost April. Will have to make a trip up there to request it in person. If this is how they handle a new sign up I don't trust them to handle my child.UPDATE: Finally got in touch with someone over a month later. Was told it was a non refundable fee, so took my fee, didn't contact me, dodged my emails and phone calls then refused to return my fee.Receptionist told me director would return my call that afternoon and of course no return calls. This is nothing short of theft.
