This place is very much unprofessional. I got to trade my car in and left a few things I call back same day not even an hour later and they say they can’t find it and it’s not in inventory. So it’s stolen and still haven’t heard anything about it. I take my new car up there to get service on my breaks and I look on my tracker and I see they are going over 85 mph. I feel that’s unprofessional and very dumb of them knowing it was there for breaks already!!! I call and see if I can speak to a manger they don’t even want to put anyone on the phone giving me the whole run around. They were literally going over the speed limit!!!! What if they would have wrecked?!?!? They laugh in your face and never respond to any of your questions. I won’t be coming back again after I’m done paying for my car!! Something needs to be done about stolen goods in peoples car!!

I was searching for a car to purchase. DO NOT LOOK AT CARS ON CARMAX SITE!!! I checked several sites and found several I liked on a couple of different sites including CarMax. Later I discovered CARMAX ran my credit without my knowledge, which I thought was illegal. I never spoke with an agent or desired to purchase any car I looked at on their website. Beware and be careful with this company. The trickery with their site can lead to unimaginable frustrations. My experience with CarMax has left me with a very high level of anxiety with my car purchasing search. A car purchase is a big life event in itself. Be aware of CarMax .... Just from the reviews that I have read and the reply of CarMax.

I honestly will say if I can rate CarMax a million times you can bet top dollar I would. My salesman was very nice and patient with me. I purchased the vehicle I wanted with the color and all. Lorenzo Lockett you’re the Best…! I’d definitely recommend anyone to purchase from CarMax.!

We reserved a car online (I have the email) and then tried to look at it to go buy it and they unreserved it or us. The store manager would not even talk to us. The CarMax rep on the phone tried to call the store and said the store manager wouldn't even talk to him. Apparently they don't want to sell cars here...

Do not buy a vehicle from them they state they do a 125+ inspection on vehicles I purchased back in September and have been calling and going back to dealership to get repairs have not even had vehicle long enough to get the first oil change but they want to keep reminding you that you have an extended warranty on issues that should have been caught during the so called inspection like brakes,rotors,corrosion on battery,oil leaks etc.If this would allow me to give negative stars that’s what I would have rated them customer service is horrible.

***Edited to say that there were conditions (a chipped windshield that the people I had fix it said existed before, also a problem with the driver's window) that became apparent and caused problems soon after purchase. And I fixed the key fobs myself when they kept giving me the runaround. Overall, not as good if an experience as I'd expected.**
This was generally an okay experience. I started the process before the coronavirus lockdown, having the vehicle I wanted employee also said it was unusually long), but I wasn't in a hurry, so not a big deal. It arrived locally, and almost two weeks later was finally available to me. My local CarMax doesn't have drop-off, unfortunately, and that didn't change due to Corona. However, they do the Express Pickup, so I did all of those steps to make an easy purchase exchange. Paying in cash (with a check), so this should have been a breeze, but I had to upload some info multiple times. My insurance ended up being in place days before I even got the vehicle.
I drove to pick it up, now in the midst of social distancing, with a reserved appointment, and still had to be there for this express pickup for well over an hour. The vehicle looked great and was exactly as I expected. However, the two keys given to be were both not only broken, but taped back together (so obviously known to be broken). These keys are the type with the fob as part of the key, then the metal. Both fobs were taped together. One key was so messed up that the take didn't help, it flexed at a 90° angle at the fob/key joint. The other, also broken and taped, was more stable.
I brought the keys to the attention of the employees, a form was filled out, I got a call from a (frankly, rude) employee a day or two later about seeing up an appointment for me to drive all the way back to get one key because it had to be calibrated to my vehicle. We set an appointment, but then more lockdowns occured.
So I currently have two broken keys that I was given at purchase and am being required to return to CarMax to get replacement keys that aren't broken. That's what I'm unhappy about.
