Unit 4a: overall we were happy with the unit. It was spacious and in a great location. The beds were comfortable. I would recommend bringing your own bath towels as the towels provided are tiny and thin. There's also not enough if you have more than 4 people staying in the unit. The view was great, as was the beach. Downside is the building really needs work. The elevator was down for 2 days. The parking lot is absolutely terrible. Do not bring a large vehicle. I was thankful we made it through without scratches or dings. While we will definitely return to Gulf Shores, I'm not sure if I would book a condo in this building again simply because there are so many fresher/updated options available.

If I'm being honest we wouldn't stay here again. You can't squeeze a fart into the horrible parking lot. The elevator has been broken every single day we've been here. Climbing 9 flights of stairs will make u really despise a place. After a rain our balcony was soaked all the way to door. We just wouldn't consider this place again.

Nice property at a nice price. My family enjoyed the property. It was very clean, quiet, great beach access and within walking distance of several shops and restaurants. I highly recommend and will be staying here again b

Stay far away! We stayed in 4D and it was a total DUMP! It smelled like it hasn't ever been cleaned, and there were German roaches!!! Not sure what is done with the $200+ cleaning fee we all pay. Also everything was broken or didn't work. We emailed the Starfish people about all of the issues and never got a response. I did call them about the roaches and they sent a pest control person a few hours later, but a couple days later the roaches were back. The parking lot is a joke and the elevator is always messed up. Definitely do NOT recommend this unit or building.

Great area . Close to everything you can think of doing. Parking is not the best. Thats the only complaint I have .

Our living area was very nice and clean. The area itself is also nice. However, the elevator can be very shaky and sketchy at times. And good luck getting out of your car in the parking lot unless you are in a very small car. My pregnant wife was literally unable to get out of the vehicle. I had to back up into the lane just so she could get out.

My family and I were so excited about this beach trip. On arrival we were disappointed as to how the parking lot was so tight and could barley find a parking space. Standing water in the entrance to the elevator. It smelled like a funky bathroom. The outside rusted and was in need of repair. Some workers were working on the building also and we could not even get in for awhile. When we finally entered the condo it was filthy! The rugs were badly stained and full of sand. There were used bottles of Gatorade and Pepsi bottles underneath the couch. We found even a syringe under the couch. ( we swept the entire place) We stripped the beds and found socks and a used bandaid in the bed. Stained bedspread. The kitchen had dirty glasses on counter and the coffee pot had water in it. We had to get cleaning supplies ourselves to clean. The floors were greasy. The couch and chairs stained did not want to sit on it. We called management several times over the course of the stay. We had to have the toilet fixed due to it was leaking and the shower head had to be replaced. I have pictures. Look! We will never stay here at Castaways again. The location was perfect.

The bed was full of sand when we arrived. Ceiling is dropping paint due to patched leaks. The condo is a bit run down but the location was excellent.

Upon arrival to this destination, you can already tell the place isn’t very well kept. Starting with parking, it is a nightmare. The parking lot is very small, and there’s way more parking for subcompact vehicles rather than SUV’s and trucks. The parking spaces aren’t very big so people were in 2 parking spaces instead of 1. You are “guaranteed” 2 parking spaces if that’s what you pay for, and there were a couple instances where we almost did not have that. Next, the elevator. Very slow, very outdated, makes scary noises on the way up and down.. kids were playing on the elevator hitting every button, but even when they aren’t playing with the buttons the elevator could take up to 3-4 minutes to come to the 9th floor. Going into the condo, it looks very nice! But once you start unpacking, and using the facilities you can see that things are outdated, and not very well taken care of. Our shower curtains had black mold growing on them. Ceiling was chipping off in the bathrooms. Pop from a previous occupant splattered all over the doors and walls in one of the bathrooms. Dirt all over the tile and rugs. One room had 2 bunk beds with no ladders and were VERY wobbly! Very unsafe. Every room had a TV but none of the remotes worked for the TV’s or the cable boxes. I had to physically get up to turn the TV on and off, and use the buttons on the box to change the channel. When condo is at full capacity the water pressure is little to nothing (which can be expected) but when it wasn’t working, I mean it was just dripping from the faucet. Handle on Microwave was broken as well. The dryer ate a pair of my shorts and tore them up. And last but not least, the railing on the 9TH floor balcony was so wobbly We didn’t even want to go out there! Other than that, the condo is in a great location. Pool was very clean. But I feel like we could have spent the same amount of money for something a little safer and cleaner. Gulf Shores is so beautiful and I still enjoyed my stay, but we wouldn’t rent from this condo again.

If you are looking at a unit in this complex STOP and know the risks before booking it. Yes prices to stay here are less and the units inside are fairly nice however the outside of the building is literally crumbling. There is only one elevator which is outside under the building. All entrances to units are outside. Water floods the bottom area where you have to carry/pull your stuff through to get to and from car or beach. At 8 am sharp people start blowing sand or doing maintenance on the building which is loud!! So don't plan on sleeping in hung over. Location is good and inside units are kept way nicer than rest of the building but having to walk through a nasty leaking smelling swamp to get anywhere really killed the vacation vibe. I recommend paying a little more to stay in a newer building.Oh last thing, the parking situation is a complete joke not enough spaces and they are very small, your car will get scratched up here.

I’m going to keep this short and simple. Castaways is a complete joke! The whole condo it self is trash. The so called owners need to knock it down and restart. The parking was horrible, the lobby stinks, and the room was crazy ridiculous! The whole place was musty, dusty, and crusty. Don’t come and waste your money on this trash bucket of a condo.

Never again. This place need major Reno and updating. First, the parking lot is hardly big enough to turn in. The place has melt and junk everywhere out front. Myself and my group ended up stuck on the elevator that malfunctioned and had to call 911 because maintenance wasn't coming to help anytime soon! Now we had to use the stairs that smell like piss. This place seems run down and never cleaned. Even our condo. The fridge looked pulled out of the ocean. Walls are nasty, the condo has a musty smell. Dust caked on the ceilings and everywhere else. Beds didn't seem clean. My whole group of 7 are unhappy with this place.

This is our 4th year staying here and absolutely love the condo we stay in, it is privately owned and not rented through a site!We just left and spent the last 2-3 days dealing with ball team families, could not use the pool due to adults drinking and the side of the pool lined with beer cans, one women literally dumped her beer into the pool!!! loud music at all times. My grandson was almost hit with water bottle that was dropped from one of the higher rooms!!!! So so disappointed in the people there, please renters, raise your rates if you must so you don't lose the people who love your condos and building!!!!
