Nice and quiet. Various trails, picnic areas, ATV trails, cute campground / main office area. We stopped by for half a day and it felt like plenty of time without being rushed or bored. One hike we did was Point Rock Trail. There was a section that was a bit steep and rocky. Found a walking stick to help stabilize my footing though. Some woman passed me while carrying a baby and a toddler strapped to her back… Hard to say if she’s that good or I’m that bad.

I visited this state park recently with my kids. I am thankful that the Alabama State Parks work to make sure that each park has Internet access and free Wifi. So T-Mobile didn't have a signal in several areas in this part of the park, but the Wifi helped tremendously. I loved the views at this park. They were incredible and the leaves changing was a nice touch?

We’re here until 11/3/23 and this place is beautiful in the fall. Due to the drought there’s no water in the stream but that should be obvious to anyone paying attention to the weather. Plenty of room between sites, grill, firepit, paved pads, tons of trees, hook-ups close together and plenty of room for my truck and 30 foot camper. There’s a big playground for the kids, men’s/women’s bath houses, laundry facilities and the office staff as well as the camp host were great! We’ll definitely be back again!

If you are looking for peace and tranquility in a state park, keep driving past Buck's Pocket State Park. We are avid campers and this had to have been one of the worst experiences we have ever had camping. From the check-in to the last day was simply awful. The campsites are extremely close together and there is no privacy whatsoever! The camp host was extremely rude and did nothing to enforce the park rules. There were kids screaming from 6:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night, riding their bikes through campsites, people partying until 2:30 in the morning, and they even had the audacity to make my son and his wife move their tent from their campsite onto our site simply because they had overbooked incorrectly and it was promised to someone else. The Host aggressively approached us during our dinner around the campfire (in the dark) and insisted that we move their tent because we weren't supposed to be there even though we had paid for the site and had our names on it. Inexcusable! Also, there is not a drop of water in the river that they advertise so heavily. The buck stops at Buck's Pocket and it's my suggestion that you find a better place to camp. This is not it!

The views are breathtaking. We did not stay in the campground or hike so I cannot review them. If you are in the area check out the views, you will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed this campground so much; we are planning another trip and taking friends with us. Great area for motorcycle riding with 60’ concrete pads. I can’t say enough about the friendly park rangers. We were able to squeeze in a 2nd trip back to Bucks Pocket with friends. They also fell in love with this campground.

Small. Quiet. Intimate. Peaceful. Beautiful. If any of these words are important to you, you MUST visit Alabama Buck’s Pocket State Park Campground. Only 23 (improved) campsites, about half of which are sewer sites, and 11 primitive sites. All level, well spaced and fully treed. The deep stony creek bed that runs through the pocket is dry most of the year, but runs fast and deep during the rainy season (January-March). This is a truly beautiful, natural and unspoiled place. The camp store is small, quaint and charming but it doesn’t stock much, so bring what you need. It also serves as the only bathouse, and it is large and clean. The pavilion is very nice and can host a lot of folks for a variety of events. Definitely ride up to the bluffs on a clear day. Breathtaking. It’s only a short drive. It’s an even shorter hike if you think you can do 500 feet of elevation in 1.14 miles (phew!). Rappelling is even allowed (STRICTLY BY PERMIT), and there is even a class offered for beginners. The playground area is very basic, but clean and in good repair. This park is meant to appreciate the outdoors, so that’s what it has over any other amenities. The park also hosts a large complex of ATV trails and is home to lots of group and ATV club events. Contact the campground office directly for more info on those! Lastly, understand that all of this unspoiled nature comes with remoteness. It’s about 8 miles to the nearest Dollar General. And be prepared for a STEEP CURVY ROAD coming in and out. It’s nerve racking, especially if you’re a bigger rig. But trust me, it’s more than worth it for this beautiful charming retreat.

The overlook is amazing! Several hiking trails and a small camping area for both campers and tents. There is a hike to the waterfall that is rated "medium to difficult".

Love the campground and management. Nice level concrete pads and shady. Nice place to hike, trail ride and a nice play ground for the little ones. The last leg coming in, maybe a 1 1/2 miles has a couple of switch bad and the road could really needs some attention but it’s doable even on motorcycles.

It was very nice family friendly and quiet. The folks there were super nice. The reason for three stars and not 4 or 5 is the advertised water at the park. There was only a dried up river bed and had to drive 5 miles just to go fishing. The “water” is seasonal for kayakers. No one tells you this on their web site or even on the park map they give at check in. It was very misleading and disappointing. Otherwise it is a nice quaint little park But will not return due to the lack of convenient fishing.

No good places to park the road is awful please take a big truck or a vehicle you don't really car about. This is the 3rd time I have been and always different times of the year. ??? Where's the water there never any water need to send boy scouts or someone to check it out to see if it's damned up stream. The bathrooms smell bad of urine. The walking trails need to be maintained. Some we couldn't even find because of alot of missing signs. This place could be so beautiful and bring more people in if there was care and hard work put into this parkRestrooms: Smelled like urine very bad

Very quiet campground that has been completely redone over the last 2 or 3 years. With only 23 spaces available, your neighbors aren't stacked up on top of you. A little over half are full hook-ups and the rest primitive camping. A couple of good hiking trails, with one leading you up to Point Rock. Several ATV trails as well.

This is a quaint little spot, very well kept and low key! There is a rushing creek that we saw when drove to check it out, and that's what we couldn't wait to hear from our campsite. When arrived to camp the creek was basically dry. The place is literally like the name..... it's in a pocket! You might want to call before you get there and ask if the water is up! Overall, we enjoyed and will be visiting again!
