They really need more volunteers, and money to help their cause. They are doing a great thing, great people trying really hard to help the animals

It is a fiscal irresponsibility for the government of hale County and its citizens that the shelter is not supported by not only the board of directors but the citizens. It is under staffed and underpaid. Please add this fa ility to your annual budget . Advertise for volunteerHold local adoption clinics so all animals have a chance to be seen.. also,, provide for an animal control officer along with a proper vehicle for transportation.Advertise.

The current manager sent the former manager a letter saying not to come to the shelter or her home. For what? Turning in a dog she couldn’t foster to the proper place so it could get the proper care. And then today it has come to light that the current manager was less than helpful when a family tried to get their lost dog back. She did not answer phone calls and ended up neutering and putting the dog up for adoption even though the owners had contacted her multiple times before the 7 day stray hold was up, and had called her multiple times without answer. She says they were closed, but as we learned with the former manager, Bry, animal rescue is a 24/7 365 day job, and someone that wants to only work 40 hours of the week is not a good fit for this role. How poorly it reflects on the current manager and the Hale County Animal Shelter and it’s Board of Directors, that a family desperate to get its dog back was not helped, and instead met with passive aggressive messages and the dog being fixed and put up for adoption. Despicable. See the screenshots for proof of family dog incident. Stay away from this place.

So much has changed since earlier this year. The latest changes are that they have a hard time finding people to work there. They only hire part-time and they have so many rules and regulations that they have to answer to. It's not about the animals, it's about politics. They are only open two times a week, Monday and Saturday, 10-2. That doesn't give the animals much of a chance to be rescued or adopted. They are a kill shelter which means that the animals only have 28 days before they are euthanized. Furthermore, the animals are not taken to a vet for a checkup before being adopted out. So whatever problem, disease, pregnancy, or reason they ended up there, now becomes your problem to figure out. The fees they charge are only to feed and water the animals and pay for the building expenses. The design of the building is another disaster. It cost about $100,000 to build and you can't walk into the individual kennels to interact with the dogs. The cats are stuck in little housing units that only provide enough room for a litter pan, food, and water. It is horrible for an adult cat. It is a noisy place with all of the dogs barking and the highway right next to the building. New dogs and puppies are terrified of being outdoors in an open cage or kennel. The employees don't have time to spend with them because they either aren't pet lovers or they are too busy doing their jobs and don't have time for anything else. It is a demanding job for such few hours and the animals are the ones that suffer for it.

Conducts business horribly and will not return a dog to its rightful owner. Seems like they care less about the animals and more about the profit they’ll make from taking advantage of an owner who loves their pet. SAD.

This animal shelter is holding my family’s baby hostage due to some he said he said. I was told to provide pictures and I could get him. Then they said it didn’t matter if I did or not I would have to pay. So my ex husband went to the shelter with the $100 and was still DENIED TO GIVE HIM BACK!!!

The owner is a JOKE. They are never open. They don’t resolve their issues instead they delete post because the truth is exposed. They don’t return dogs to their RIGHTFUL OWNERS. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. They should be shut down!
