Ate there on our wedding night in 1981. Still the same consistency as back then. Do not change anything.

The food isn't the same as pre-covid. I was disappointed to see the menue changes. They only have small fillets now, no whole fish. The tables are cleared off, no salt or pepper shakers, or no napkins on the table. The tarter sauce that are brought to you with your plates are no more than 2 table spoons. The serve salt, pepper, napkins and lemon on a saucer. The lemon is in packets not fresh. They have reduced the quality of a restaurant to a fast food atmosphere. The prices compared to other Catfish restaurants is very high for the quality. For 2 medium plates which includes 2 Catfish filets, fries, hushpuppies, and drinks was $43.00 not including the tip. This was on February 14, 2024. Needless to say I will not be returning.

With my daughter having attended UNA my wife and I have eaten here many times. My daughter recently graduated and we had her celebration lunch here, we had a large group about 12, we seated right away and were served right away. Food and service were excellent and everyone had drinks refills with out asking. A great place for the family.

Overall dissatisfied 1st day experience.... no atmosphere or attempt of creating one, poor taste of food, just bland. Service was robotic, I had to ask for everything.Restrooms were unclean that day, no mirror in the restroom, and there is adequate space for one.

We have eaten at Newbern's many times. Since Covid, they only serve filets. The filets are good. However, I prefer whole fish. Fish are a little more pricey sense Covid.Wheelchair accessibility: One level with no ramps.

My first time visiting and initially was happy with the service. I ordered the catfish meal with baked potato and slaw and hushpuppies $16.00. The fish was very fishy tasting and almost like river water taste, baked potato was way overcooked and brown looking. The slaw was good. I tried forcing myself to eat 2 small bites of fish after dipping in tarter sauce, but it started making me have dry heaves. I switched to the very well done potato and ate about half and half a bite of hushpuppy. The server would not trade the fish for another meat choice and basically just motioned and shrugged like oh well. I left very disappointed and still hungry so stopped by a drive through on way home.So paid $16 for bad service and only 2 small bites of fish, half potato and slaw. My 1st experience was horrible and I assure you I will not be back!!!!!!!!!!!

I've eaten here my whole life and it was always amazing. I have lived out of town for a while and recently moved back. The prices they have gone up to are ridiculous. $16 for a small fish plate. One fillet of fried catfish. $16. We got up and left.
