Unfortunately, Sugar House messed up my cupcake order for my wedding. We were instructed by the staff to not open the sealed box until after 5 to keep the cupcakes fresh. Come 5:15 when we open the box, we notice the order is incorrect. Unfortunately, this was after hours and they were closed. Once sugarhouse was notified of their error, they had the audacity to ask if we can bring the cupcakes back and say sorry mistakes happen. They have taken very little responsibility in this matter and have stopped responding to all communication.

Cupcakes are delicious; however, the owner baked and packaged the wrong cupcakes for my sister-in-laws wedding and then refused to make any sort of amends in the days following. The owner offered a listless apology via text response and then stopped responding all together (after brushing off our concerns with a “well mistakes happen” text). We were disregarded and quickly dismissed. Felt a bit embarrassed because I was the one who recommended Sugar House to the bride and groom. Just make sure you triple check your orders from Sugar House as soon as you pickup (even though they reassured us we didn’t have to), it does appear they are a bit unorganized and can’t keep track of all orders.

Being a small business owner myself, I hate to negatively review another small business. However, I feel it’s important for everyone to know how careless and dismissive Sugar House was to my family. Last weekend, my daughter got married in Fairhope. My daughter did not want the traditional wedding cake, instead she wanted cupcakes with the groom and bride’s favorite flavors (funfetti and strawberry). After thorough communication with the owner, we agreed on 24 of each flavor. Saturday morning rolled around and we picked up the cupcakes at 9 am (as instructed). Upon pickup, the cupcakes were packed nicely in a sealed and taped box. We were told by employees to keep the box sealed tightly until 5 pm to ensure freshness. Unfortunately, at 5:15 once we began setting out cupcakes for the wedding, we noticed the flavors were incorrect. We were incredibly upset as this was a small and simple order—only 2 flavors and 4 dozen cupcakes. However, being that Sugar House was already closed and guests were on their way, we set the cupcakes out anyways. Monday morning, I reached out to the owner of Sugar House and her response was less than accommodating. Simply saying “it was an error” and “mistakes happen.” When we asked about the possibility of a refund for the wrong order, she asked us if we could return the cupcakes. Return the cupcakes? 36 hours later?! I truly thought she was kidding. I’ve never been to any restaurant or food business where an order is incorrect and they ask you to bring back the food 2 days later—how comical. She then proceeded to scold me as the customer for “not checking my order before I left the store” insinuating that it was my fault that the order was wrong. Instead of accepting responsibility (other than an indolent apology via text response), she decided to ignore my texts and phone calls. Yes, perhaps I should have cut through the box to ensure the order was correct; however, I assumed that a bakery who sells hundreds of cupcakes throughout the week was more than capable of properly boxing 48 cupcakes. I was truly shocked such a “reputable” business would be so discourteous over 2 dozen cupcakes. With that being said, if you’re craving a cupcake while walking through downtown Fairhope, sure, pop in and grab one. However, I would not use Sugar House for parties or large orders, it is obvious the owner and staff cannot handle the responsibility of such tasks.

We had an amazing experience for our wedding. Brittany is incredibly talented and extremely patient with indecisive brides like myself haha. Our cakes were stunning and tasted delicious.

Had a cake made for my grandmother's birthday. 1) cake was excellent 2) customer service was top notch and accommodating 3) very convenient - contacted and ordered online and just picked up the cake when it was ready. 5/5 would recommend

The cakes turned out great. We had a cho late grooms cake, vanilla extra cake and an Italian bottom with lemon blue berry up top wedding cake. Communication was a little off but overall we were happy with our cakes!

I’m SO happy we chose Sugar House for our wedding cakes! We ordered a 4 tier bridal cake with multiple flavors- lemon cake with blackberry filling and vanilla cake with raspberry filling. They both tasted amazing! Very moist and not too sweet - just right. We had an “interesting” request for the grooms cake… my husband is a foot surgeon, so we got a foot cake! ? We knew it would be an odd request but she delivered! It was a huge hit. Grooms cake was chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and it was decadent. We will be back at Sugar House in the future for sure!
