“We stayed in Alabama a few months last winter and tried the turtles and brought some back to Minnesota. Our children loved them I will need to order some for Christmas. Great little place.”
“I already liked this store and have a favorite scent "weekend at the river." Since we no longer reside in Fairhope, I have ordered online. The new owner, Erin, was so gracious when there was a glitch in my last online order. Now I like this store even more!”
“We visited Fairhope in September 2024 and went to "The Happy Olive". It's a wonderful store with lots of interesting items. You can try different types of olive oil and get great advice. The sales clerks are extremely nice, courteous and helpful. We would love to come back on our next visit to Fairhope.”

“One of the best places to shop in all of fairhope. They have everything for outdoor needs from kitchens to plants. Their staff and owners go above and beyond to help you with whatever you want to tackle. I’m building an outdoor kitchen and Mr. Cliff was very helpful with brochures and pricing. Go here and have some fun.”
“This shopping district is a mixed bag, but the good stuff therein makes the trip worthwhile. I recommend spending the middle half of the day wandering the shops, then maybe the evening in bars or restaurants.”
“Friendly staff, good selection of ornaments, & decor ranging in price from reasonable to higher end. Some unusual items you dont see in other stores, even held our purchases while we did shopping at other stores.”
“In response to the negative review posted on Ole Bay Mercantiles Google reviews. To Leanne B regarding the negative review: I am the owner of the store and had the interaction with your son. Your son was at a display in my store unattended by any adult. While there was a “try me” button on 2 musical Santa figurines, your son was playing with the button in such way that it looked like he was mashing the buttons on a video game. My first comment to him was to please stop repeatedly pushing the buttons down. He ignored my request and continued to play with the buttons. My next action was to ask him where his parents were, so that I may speak to them directly about his disregard for my property. There are many items in my store that are fragile and can be broken. We kindly ask parents to instruct their children to “look with their eyes and not their hands”, but there was no parent. The mother then came into the store and listened to her son complain about my interaction with him. The mother then began to yell at me for talking to her son and left the store. The father then came in the store and yelled at me for talking to their son about his behavior. This was a teaching moment for these parents to teach their children about respecting other people’s property and other adults. I expected an apology from the parents, but received what is wrong with our children and society today…no respect for property or authority. We have a lovely gift store that welcomes all to browse and shop. Our store has been here for 34 years. Ole Bay is frequented and loved by locals and tourists alike. God Bless you Leanne B and your family.”
“Great customer service. The internet was down(unable to take payments)and the ladies kept composure. They were very apologetic while waiting for a problem out of their control to be resolved. I was very impressed with how friendly and calm they stayed with a shop full of last minute Christmas shoppers!”
“This is such a hidden gem! They have some of the most unique and beautiful products that you cannot find anywhere else. Chapel Farm is the best place to shop for those individuals in your life who have everything. When you purchase from them either in the store or online it really is the best customer service you have ever experienced. Chapel Farm is a perfect example of what southern charm is all about!”
