I've been getting my hair cut from Stephanie, one of the owners, for a year now. I love them. And very consistent. And the service from the staff is very good. Everyone is so friendly. I recommend !

Ali is an absolute gem! They spent over 8 hours working their magic on my hair to bring my split hair idea to life, and let me tell you, it was worth every second! I went to cutloose for a cut and partial highlights mid March with Bryan. I've been a customer there for 2 years. I've never had issues or complaints with any of my haircuts or color treatments in all the salons I've been to in the 4 states I've lived in the last 12 years. I'm not a complainer. Except this time my expectations were not met. I left the salon loving the haircut per usual. I wasn't sure about the color just yet. It seemed dark to me but I thought I'd see what I felt at home. First thing my husband and later my friends said when they saw me was "oh you went darker?" It looked darker than my natural color. Definitely was not partial highlights. Reciept said balayage. I emailed the salon told them my expectations were for lightening not to darken. I was told to give it a few weeks with some washes it will lighten up and also lighten up with the next treatment. I gave it two weeks still not happy with it. I emailed again was told I could come in for a hair consult and a shampoo treatment. That's it. I called and spoke with the receptionist and they said I'd have to book a separate appointment that would cost for a color correction. I asked to speak to a manager she said the manager would call me back. Few days later one of the managers Stephanie EMAILED me a one sided email. Saying I did not want to come in for the hair consult and there's nothing we can do. My time is just as important as yours I'm a busy mom 1 1/2 year old at home and was in the process of going through drs appointments and tests to find out what's wrong with my health. I am not going to come in unless I knew that something was going to be fixed not just to take a look and shampoo it. I responded to the email I was told I would be getting a phone call back not an email. No response. I reached out to BBB. In that time a few weeks later I got news that had cancer and needed to start a clinical trial in one week. Around that time the front desk manager Sahar called in response to the BBB complaint and she asked me to come in, again not saying anything will be corrected, "to take a look, you have to understand our stylist take pride and take time with their work" seems like this time your stylist has a little too much pride. I definitely didn't have time or the emotional bandwidth to put up with this nonsense at this horrific time in my life. I told her what had happened and that I can't come in for a hair consult, she didn't care, nor did her manager Stephanie. Clearly they saw me as just a dollar sign/number walking through the door that will be replaced by another 5 or more people because this is Houston and it's busy. I paid over $500 for my hair treatment with a good tip. I appreciate people and their time taken. Just not sure why I was not appreciated or respected as a customer. I'm glad other customers have found their salon, I would recommend them to people said that if we were to ever move I'd miss it. I told some people about what happened and they said they've never heard of a salon not wanting to fix a color a client wasn't happy with. And they will respond to this review with one way remarks putting it back on me saying they did everything possible to remedy the situation but I did not come in to see what they could do. They never said that they would help fix the color with no additional cost.

I so love my haircut with Nita today. She did an amazing job with my overgrown short hair, lol it was a mess! She trimmed it, added texture & style while giving it a soft and natural look. Love the salon, good vibe & energy, cool furnitures & wall decor, and O everyone looked amazing. You can have complimentary drinks, I had water but will go for a beer or Bloody Mary next time! I absolutely loved my experience at Cutloose today, first time here and looking forward to my next visit.

I was excited about my haircut going into it but I left disappointed. I asked for bangs and to refresh my layers. I brought reference photos and have established what I believe to be a clear expectation of what I wanted. My appointment was with Kennedi. She was nice enough and there were certainly green flags- a consultation to begin, double shampoo, she told me what each product was going to help with. The haircut was just not it. And how she styled it was even worse. When I leave the hair salon I normally wait as long as possible to wash my hair after because it looks so good. After my appointment here, I went home and rewashed so I could style myself. When I do style it, it's fine- nothing special, definitely not worth $70. I found myself looking around at other patrons and being jealous that they had different stylists. The place was nice and I enjoyed the ambiance. I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea of rebooking here- it would definitely have to be with another stylist. I've had better $30 haircuts than what I got here.

I've been coming to Cutloose for years on and off, but there's really no place better! Now that I have my go-to style and stylist, I doubt I'll ever leave again. Parking: Parking is the only issue I have with Cutloose - it's right in the heart of Montrose and there's very limited parking options. They don't have their own parking lot so you do need to find street parking. I've always been lucky enough to get a spot pretty close, but depending on the day that can be a challenge. Price: Their prices are standard and I believe they do depend on your stylist. Ambiance: There's something cool and chill about Cutloose. There's some hustle and bustle, but I always feel comfortable and relaxed here. The staff is very friendly and you're always greeted in the entry area. I believe you're generally offered a beverage when sitting and waiting in the front as well. Other things to note: They do sell various hair styling products They have nice, clean restrooms Their front door can be a bit heavy and I believe has a step up. There is a second floor inside with a few steps up to it as well (for those with mobility issues I think it's noteworthy)

Long overdue review for the amazing work of Chad! He was recommended by a friend and I was glad that I took her advice. I came in needing a nice REFRESH and to chop my long lifeless locks. Chad took the time to listen to my concerns and what I was looking for. He totally nailed the layers that I wanted. I usually stay away from layers as I've had terrible experiences with that particular style. I don't usually spend much on my haircuts, but this was definitely worth every cent! Will definitely be back!

Finally decided to get a nice haircut after 2 years. I drive by this place all the time and always thought it looked cool and trendy so I decided to give it a try. I was pretty desperate for a haircut so I did not prior research on the hair stylist and instead just picked the person that was available at a time that worked for me. Chad did my cut and I was soooo happy with it. I have super thin hair with little to no volume and Chad cut + styled my hair perfectly. I left feeling like I actually had a full head of hair! He delivered exactly what I asked for + more! This is a pricey haircut ($80 + tip) but you really get what you pay for. I'm happy I found a place that can style and cut my hair exactly the way I like it. I will definitely be back for my next trim here!

I really don't understand how this salon has such a great reputation, I've had nothing but mostly horrible experiences over the 5 months I've been a customer. I cold called and asked to be matched with a stylist for a cut and color. My stylist was okay, the color was fine, but she refused to use toner and just pulled my hair color thru to blend. Her technique isn't what I expected but the results looked fine. I scheduled my next appointment with her and she either quit or was fired. I wasn't notified of the cancellation and showed up for my appointment after THEY emailed me and confirmed the appointment. I show up, AS SCHEDULED, but now you've wasted my time by not notifying me in advance that my stylist left and I desperately need my roots touched up. The girls at the front desk lied about trying to call me and tell me the appointment is cancelled. I have no calls from them or any unknown numbers so they FLAT OUT LIED about trying to contact me. I ask them to match me with a new stylist since I'm desperate to get my roots touched up. They pair with a wonderful stylist who is very skilled with hair cutting but I could tell his color experience was lacking. He consulted his partner with almost every step along the way. The results looked fine so I booked a second appointment with my new stylist. THE DAY BEFORE my appointment the salon calls me to "adjust" the appointment - my new stylist has to go back to "color school" and can't color my hair but he can give me a great cut. NO THANKS! I need the whole package. This was the the Friday before Easter and I have a headshot and cover shoot for a magazine scheduled on Monday with no one available to cover my roots before these major events. I am now paired with a new stylist and she's fabulous, the cut and color were perfect. I feel like I finally have found a great stylist here in Houston! However today, when I was supposed to have my second appointment with her, the front desk actually scheduled it for a week later than today. So I'm about to head back to LA with grey roots because of their scheduling error. The incompetent folks at the front desk have ruined my experience with this salon. I will not be back.

Melodie absolutely botched my hair and I am FINALLY speaking out on it. I pulled out an inspiration photo to show her what I wanted and she turned away and said, "I don't need to see a picture, I know what im doing". Um, yes you needed to see a picture because the outcome was nothing like what I asked for. I specifically said that I didn't want to come out having a mullet and that's exactly what she did. If she had looked at my picture she would've had a better idea of what I wanted. I cried for days, called in to work and had to pay a lot of money to get extensions put in the next day to even out my hair. I am still recovering from my haircut nightmare and it is painfully, slowly growing. I think it is a big responsibility to cut someone's hair and any input from the customer should never be dismissed. I am traumatized to ever let anyone touch my hair again. The first photo is the day after my haircut and the second photo is with the extensions put in to temporarily fix my botched haircut.

I loved Jeff! He was super nice and listened to me, even though I didn't really know what I wanted. Was able to guide me and was very thorough and felt unrushed. I have dark curly hair and love my warm brown highlights and cut. Will definitely be back regularly.

I went in with some overgrown bushy bleach blonde happening. Nita did the consultation and a couple weeks later I had my appointment. I was nervous. She a GREAT job. Now I'm hot pink and loving it. The color was perfect. Absolutely no stains on my face or neck or clothes. (Issue I'd had at a previous salon). And the haircut is super cute. Overall she was such a pleasure to hang out with, she did a great job, incredibly consultative. Ahhhh - I wrote that after my first visit. I just finished my 2nd visit and again so pleased with the results! I walked to get a coffee and immediately got compliments on my pink hair. I feel so pretty. Thank you!

Haven't had a haircut in a while and needed something light and different. I booked ahead of time for a women's cut ($80) with a gentleman named Chad, a little expensive but I kinda wanted to go somewhere fancy for once. It went incredibly well and I game him full rights to my hair since I didn't know what I wanted to do. It was fast and professional, my hair and head felt and looked great, and I'll probably come back for the next cut! Thanks Chad! (I'll add a hair picture as soon as I can take a good selfie)

I've been coming to Cutloose for a few years now and love it. Everyone is helpful and nice. The online booking system is super easy to use and I've never been blindsided by extra costs. My stylist is Megan C and she has always done a great job with my cut and color, I always get compliments on my hair. Definitely recommend her and the salon.
