“I’ve been searching for a trusted place in Birmingham to take my vehicles and finally found Riverchase Automotive. Donny and his team got me in quick and took care of a sizable coolant leak on my 4Runner. They took care of several other issues and made me feel like family.
Look no further. Trust the guys at Riverchase Auto”
“I've taken my vehicles to PTL for many years. They've always been fair, honest, reasonable, accommodating.Mr. Tim is retired now but you would think he's still around due to the level of service and professionalism the staff there now exhibits.I've always felt comfortable taking my vehicles there and I foresee me being a patron for the foreseeable future. I also have no qualms about referring anyone to them.Keep it up guys??”
“I found this place by doing a quick google search while in the area. I was in dire need because my vehicle wasn't braking correctly.
They were pretty busy that day, but they managed to squeeze me in and get me fixed up within a couple of hours.
Honest and fair pricing. I will definitely ne back again.”
“I cannot say enough good things about my experience today with Southern Rubber Tire. They were knowledgable and professional and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing auto services.
I came in to get 2 tires replaced as they were showing concerning visible wear and tear. I also had them inspect my other two tires as I had been told by Mavis earlier this morning that they were dangerous to drive on and also needed to be replaced.
Despite having the opportunity to upsell me on tires I didn't need, Mike, conducted a thorough inspection of my tires and informed me that the damage was purely cosmetic and that my tires were perfectly safe to drive on. As for the other two, he said that while they were old, that the tread was "like new" and and the tires were also safe.
What truly set this experience apart was Mike's approach; he offered advice as if it were for his own vehicle, focusing solely on what was necessary and best for me. His honesty is commendable.
I am immensely grateful for the respectful and courteous service I received and when my tires do eventually need replacing, I will be returning to Southern Rubber Tire.
They also kindly checked my sister's tires, who had followed me to give me a ride, and while they are close to being in need of replacing, they told her that she probably had 5-10K miles left and that it wasn't urgent.
Their commitment to genuine, customer-first service is refreshing and highly valued - especially in an industry that so often attempts to take advantage of women.”
“This auto repair shop is fantastic. The owner, Danny Bedgood, is an automotive guru! I was visiting family in town and had a warning light go off. He squeezed me in and had me all fixed up for our long drive back home. I wish so much that I had access to a place like this where I live! I'm telling all my family members who own Toyotas to definitely take their cars to Danny! Can not recommend highly enough. (One person says that they drive 4 hours to get Danny to work on their car. All I can say is that I get that!)”
“I took my car in a few days earlier to have the spark plugs changed because I didn't want any problems on the road to see my new grand baby. As I was preparing to leave on my trip, my car started acting funny. I called Car Care and told me to bring it right in. They worked me in and replaced my battery that had seen better days. I made it to my destination without any problems. A small problem, but greatly appreciated.”
“We traveled from Maryland for the Thanksgiving holiday and needed some work done on our Volvos prior to driving back home. The owner Alex, waited for us to arrive although it was near to their closing time. Once we arrived he was efficient and knowledgeable about our cars. Repaired the Volvos and made sure sufficient air was in our tires in record breaking time. We drove back to Maryland without any issues. Great place with exceptional service! If we lived near Birmingham Alex at GTech would be our only mechanic!! Two thumbs UP!!”
“They went out of their way to help. Best prices on tires I found. I would recommend them to anyone. I hate buying tires but I know where I'll be going back when I need more. Thanks”
“I can't recommend Manny and moto autohaus enough! I've been bringing both my E30 and M2 here for everything and there's no other place I'd take them to in Birmingham. If you have any BMW, this is the place. Manny is both incredibly experienced and passionate about cars. You can tell the moment you walk into the shop. I've never had an issue with any of his work, and he is extremely easy to reach out to and ask questions about your car.”
“Michael is a rock star. He truly cares about his customers and what their vehicle needs. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional and super friendly. Michael doesn't over price and he is very trustworthy. I recommend this shop and I will return when needed. Thanks for everything Michael!”
“That's our 1993 Lexus LS 400 below--107K miles, and a wonderful car again, thanks to Marty's Transmission. "Thanks, Marty..." I said in a recent phone call to his shop "...it's 1993 again, and I'm driving a new Lexus. Smooth, excellent shifting, just like when it left the dealership 31 years ago. Well done!"
When I asked what had caused the transmission to fail, he held up a small disk with a crack in it. "This is what caused the problem. This particular year had an issue with this part. In the 1994 model, they strengthened this so it wouldn't happen."
It took a while, but Marty was able to carefully, thoughtfully, find all of the right parts from across the nation to properly rebuild this transmission. It hasn't been available from Lexus for years.
Amazing knowledge, engineering skills, and outstanding outcomes. The very reasonable cost was a great surprise too. Pleased to recommend Marty's Transmission to anyone looking for honest, highly knowledgeable and skilled work at a more-than-fair price!”
“Great customer service. Very prompt, direct and honest with their communication and quotes. They were able to schedule me very quickly and performed the work in an extremely timely manner. Furthermore, they provided detailed documentation on the work performed, as well as the issues with the transmission which was replaced. They turned what was looking like a month or more of a headache with the dealership into less than a week. I will absolutely use this shop again for other automotive services, not just transmission work.”

835 McDonald Chapel Rd, Birmingham“Chase gets 5 stars + . I literally had been struggling to find a mechanic the scheduled mechanic didn’t show , and I just happened to call this number and Chase came right on out and fixed the issue. I asked him in advance about another he was thorough . He kept his word and was professional! He’s my permanent mechanic now.”
“I have only used Jim & Jim's Body Shop once at the recommendation of a former co-worker. I went there after calling because my driver side mirror was broken off. Instead of paying lots of money to have it replaced, they simply glued it back on. This didn't last very long unfortunately, but longer than having duct tape on my car. I eventually had to have the whole mirror replaced, but overall I was pleased with the work they did.
I didn't find the business rude by any means. They were a courteous staff, and got to work on my car as quickly as they could. I'm soon to have future body work needed on my car due to a car accident, and I'm considering using Jim & Jim's again because they are close to home, and I had a pleasurable experience during my last visit.”
“Great independent shop that works on many makes and models in a range of ages. Easy and fast to get appointments and they’re thorough and fast with reasonable prices. Clear and accurate quotes on work before it is done. Always a pleasure.”
“This was my first time using Christian Brothers. My car had a transmission that went bad. I must say, they made the process easier and the car is running good. Not planning on having anymore serious mechanical issues but overall the experience was a good one.”
“Chip is great to work with and is very knowledgeable in what needs to be done. If you get a transmission replaced and you need a starter or have u-joint issues, he can handle it. Highly recommend!!!”
“I cannot recommend Christian Brothers Automative enough! Their process was beyond seamless and they fixed/explained exactly what needed to be done. Do not hesitate utilizing their services - 10/10!”
“My battery was dead after a long day st work. Luckily I was parked by this business. He helped me by giving me a free used replacement battery to get back home. Thank you again!”
“This is the place that keeps me confident in driving a BMW. If it weren’t for this place I certainly wouldn’t deal with the BMW service department. These guys are professionals that don’t take advantage of their customers and always do the job right!”
“Had a reductant tank (DEF) fault in the middle of a 800 mile trip and called J&S. They got me in immediately and back on the road in less than 15 minutes! Great service!”
“Mike and his technicians did a superb job on rebuilding my transmission on my '95 Corvette. It has been almost 2 years now, and it gives me no trouble; actually drives like a new car again. I recommend his shop to anyone I know who is looking for a transmission shop. And, another thing, they are fast and your vehicle MIGHT spend 2 days maximum at his shop...Great turnaround time !!!”
“My car crapped out and I had to leave it in the side of 4th Ave. I just happened to call a tow company and they had a driver that was at Aamco so I just had it towed there. Robert was so patient with me and explained everything as he went. I will definitely take my car back anytime it needs service.”
“I have been trying to get my 2009 Blue Bird All American bus factory air conditioners to work since I purchased the bus several years ago to build a Skoolie. I was getting very frustrated after paying two other repair shops to diagnose and fix the problem. However, after paying for the work, the air conditioner would always stop cooling after running for twenty-thirty minutes.
Last week I was driving the bus from Ashville to Greenville, NC when the afternoon temperatures hit 95-97 degrees. It was too hot to continue driving and I pulled over and turned on our Pioneer mini-split to stay cool while I researched who might have the proper knowledge and experience to finally get the bus air conditioner working.
Inside the covers of the evaporator units, I found the name (MCC) Mobile Climate Control, Inc. I was then able to locate authorized dealers and service centers across the U.S. It took me more that five hours of making calls to repair shops in the South East before I discovered W.W. Williams in Birmingham, AL. James Latham, W.W. Williams - Customer Experience Supervisor, took the time to listen to the issues I was having and was able to schedule me immediately. I went out of my way driving from Atlanta to Birmingham, but I had confidence they could fix my air conditioning system.
As soon as I arrived at the repair shop, the diagnosis work was started. A few weeks earlier, I replaced all four roof-top condenser fans and washed the condensers. Still, one of the new condenser fans would not power up. Pete, the air conditioner tech. discovered the fan control switch on the rear roof-top unit was malfunctioning. After determining the switch was not needed and not worth the time and money to replace it, I agreed to have him rewire the fan directly, protected with fuses to turn on/off when the system was activated. This fixed the fan and ensured proper air flow through the roof-top condensers, but still did not keep the system from shutting down after running down the road for twenty minutes.
Initially, it appeared that the non-working condenser fan was causing the high pressure switch to activate and shut down the compressor. This, I'm sure was part of the problem, but there was still something else going on.
Because the high and low pressure readings were as expected, the real issue was not obvious. Pete pointed out that the bus air conditioning system requires 14 pounds of refrigerant per the information for the system located in the rear engine compartment. The only way to verify the weight of the refrigerant was to pull it all out and test for leaks in the system. It was determined to only have 6.5 LB which was 7.5 LB short. This shortage was apparently causing the low pressure switch to activate and stop the compressor. After filling to 14 pounds, the air conditioner continues to blow cold air and problem solved.
I am quite certain the other repair shops (unrelated to W.W. Williams) did not actually weigh the refrigerant, but relied only on high and low pressure readings.
In my experience with school bus and motor home repair shops around the country, it is rare to find one that will follow through with customer service.
I am fortunate I found W.W. Williams of Birmingham. For the first time, I finally got the result I was looking for. No, I did not need a whole new air conditioning system. I just needed a repair shop I could trust to get the job done in a friendly and efficient manner.
