It's 70% of a regular Publix for 130% of the money. Everything is there, just less of it. Dedicated parking in a deck above. Elevator that opens in the store. The street level pedestrian door is sometimes guarded by beggars and story-tellers. This same demographic takes turns using the store restrooms. This isn't an unusual circumstance if you frequent 2024 Urban America, but folks that think were still a polite, logical society might be disturbed.Prices are Urban High but not crazy. The hot food areas are busy.Just, be aware you are downtown in a metro rather than in 'Publix' and you'll be OK. Oddly, the parking deck is never a problem.Yet.

I am a person who loves spicy food, so I was looking forward to the regular spicy sandwich from Champs Nashville Hot Chicken. This food stall, located at The Garden at Palafox + Main, offers authentic Nashville hot chicken, with juicy and spicy meat, soft bread, and fresh toppings. However, I underestimated its spiciness, and as soon as I took a bite, I felt my mouth on fire, and tears and snot came out. I could only barely finish half of it, and took the rest home. The staff was very friendly, and brought me water and napkins, and asked me if I wanted to change the spiciness level. I think this place has delicious hot chicken, but next time I will definitely order the smallest spiciness level, so I can enjoy it better. If you are a person who likes to challenge yourself, you can try their regular spicy or higher spiciness levels, but I warn you, be prepared, they are not joking!

My favorite grocery store! The staff is helpful, friendly and fast. They always have fresh produce and high quality meat and fish. We can also charge our electric vehicle in the parking deck!

If, you park in the parking lot for this Publix, be prepared for extremely tight turns, very close parking spots and a "racetrack" style access to the "pits" where the parking is. This is a 3- Tier parking deck, with blind stop signs at each tier. Top tier parking is for residents of Midtown 20 ONLY. The middle tier is for Public Customers, while the first tier seems to be predominantly used for the Public Employee Parking. Also, upon exciting, ensure you STOP at the sidewalk level and actually LOOK for pedestrians as they will just suddenly "appear" out of thin air in front of you there. I've seen THREE "pedestrians" hit there, 1 on foot, 1 on a bicycle, and 1 on a scooter. You park on the 2nd Tier, take the elevator to the ground level where you exit to the store. IF you're Claustrophobic, the elevator is glass and you have a nice, open view of the outside world as you travel until you get to/leave the first level. So if you can hold your breath until you pop up above the ground level, you'll be fine (or you'll pass out and will awaken with strangers going through your pockets and trying to give you mouth to mouth...).OK, finally, THE STORE... Actually, not much different from the parking deck comments above. NOT a full sized Public but any means, but they stock what somebody thinks are the most popular needed/wanted items, usually. The aisles are tighter than a normal Publix store, be prepared for "traffic jams" and "wrecks" in many of the aisles. That delicious Bourbon Salmon Filet you bought there on Monday, might not be on the shelf on Friday. The employees are usually rude, uncaring, and generally "Self absorbed" in their own little worlds and have very little time, or concern for your wants/needs. I've seen more EXPIRED products still on the shelf at this location than any other Publix stores I've been to. And be prepared to bag your own grocery purchases because they'll just turn and walk away after they take your payment. Please, ENJOY your Shopping Experience at the Midtown 20 Publix!

Grocery store of course, but it is always clean and the workers are always friendly and helpful. The pharmacy workers are great. I love the deli and the fresh hot chicken and sides. The bakery does wonders with their birthday/occasion cakes. Great deals too.

Not the greatest place to visit if you're in a hurry. Parking deck is typically hectic and not conducive to larger vehicles turning. Elevators from deck to store are really slow. Aisles are tighter than normal since it's a smaller footprint store. Grocery selection is still impressive and deli items were fresh. Employees were nice.

We visited this store yesterday. The pharmacist was super nice and helpful. We also picked up a few grocery items. It's Publix so of course everything was of quality, and even though I couldn't understand her. She was very friendly.

I'll start by saying the place is clean. The meat counter ladies are completely useless. Do yourself a favor and ask if they've cleaned the meat slicer before they cut anything. Came here for a sandwich? You better have an hour to kill. As for the rest of the store, it's a bit pricey. Overall, this place is only good if you need something quickly, not to buy a list's worth of groceries.

Publix has become the leading name in the supermarket field here in the southeast. Once you experience a Publix supermarket yourself, I am confident that you will understand how Publix has become such an iconic supermarket brand and has developed such a loyal customer base down here in the southeast. Publix has created a solid reputation by offering incredible customer service, great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals, and we cannot forget their subs, which are affectionately known as "Pub Subs." Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way, it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. This particular Publix is located in downtown Birmingham and though it is a bit tighter, they still have a lot to offer. It also has a pleasant enough atmosphere. It is great to see Publix expanding beyond the boundaries of their home state of Florida and spreading throughout the southeast. Not only am I happy about it, but I am confident that the communities where Publix opens a location are very grateful for a Publix opening by them. I would definitely recommend this particular Publix location or any Publix location for that matter and I give it five stars.

Toya J is an exceptional worker! She literally stopped me & took her time out to help me out! I was very lost in the store! Her attitude was very positive & warming ! Good job Publix for hiring a person as such!

I recently visited this store to get a few items. When I went to pay with my EBT card the worker claimed it didn't take the first time because I didn't press the right thing on the keypad. I to pay tried again and the same issue happened. I was referred to customer service to pay for my items and the payment proceeded fine there, but when I went home I realized they charged me twice for the same purchase. I will never shop at this publix again. The workers here were very rude and unpleasant, and most of all, unhelpful.
