Room was average at best. The pump body wash in the shower was completely empty and the kleenex box was almost empty. There was no evidence the room was clean but no evidence that it wasn't. It was average at best. Restaurant was take out with average food and expensive. We were charged $20 for parking but no parking pass to the $20 parking lot was requested nor provided. I noticed the charge after the fact.

This place was very nice, very clean, very relaxing and it's within walking distance to several restaurants. The only problem I had was that my wife and I stayed 1 night, and it ended up costing me $315 and they held $60 of my money for several days after the stay!! It was my fault for not paying attention to the price in the first place, it just caught me off guard is all! Lol, I know hotels aren't cheap anymore, but $315 is a stretch! I think we were double charged for the breakfast buffet too, we prepaid $10 on the website when we got the room. After breakfast the server brings us a $40 bill and says that we won't be charged, it's just to show that we had breakfast. I'm not so sure it worked out like that though! I won't be coming back that's for sure.

Low overall rating due to staff checking us into an OCCUPIED room with people sleeping at 12:30am as we arrived late after driving 3.5 hrs. After returning to desk to let them know, they say the relocated another customer without updating it in their system. This was a major safety issue for not only us but also the people sleeping that we walked in on at 12:40am. We received no apology or concern from front desk staff, and that the room we reserved is not available any longer and “should” be empty. We had to ask them to go verify this before we took all of our belongings with us again. Toilet wasn’t working properly upon arrival into the new room. Tons of kids screaming next door to us unsupervised. We will no longer be returning to stay here when we visit Birmingham.

Do NOT stay here! I repeat, DO NOT STAY HERE!! My family and I stayed at this hotel for a wedding Sept. 2024. We checked in on a Friday and when my cousin went to her car after checking out Sunday morning at 8am, her car was no where in sight. It was stolen! Police were called and were able to track the car via the license plate on the traffic cams heading towards the interstate at 3:40 a.m. The hotel manager, Stephanie Stewart, stated this was the first time something like this have ever occurred at the hotel, however other employees at the hotel, the police, and insurance adjusters stated this was a weekly occurrence. An hour later, the police had to return to the hotel because another guest’s car was stolen as well. The hotel has security and a guests have to pay for parking to park on the lot. This was unacceptable & devastating! My cousin and her family had to cram in my car for the 5 hour drive back home. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO RISK YOUR CAR BEING STOLEN!!!
Safety: At least 2 cars were stolen from the hotel parking lot during our visit.

Watch out for fraudulent charges! We stayed here for a while I was recovering from surgery. When we checked in, the attendant asked for a card to put on file. I swiped my credit card and clarified the $100 would be refunded so long as there was no damage to the room and that the card would not be charged for anything additional, as per usual hotel policy. She told me yes, this was correct. She then proceeded to go over all the rules and told us to use our room cards to access special parking available to their guests, which we used.
I checked my account a week later to discover a charge, so I called the hotel. They told me that this was a parking fee, but that if we wanted, they could refund it. Thankfully, they were very nice and polite about the refund, but charging for something you told someone was free is not appropriate. It was only $15/night, but this does quickly add up. Had I not checked my account, this fee would have been charged.
Looking back at it, we shouldn’t have used their allotted parking area- there was free parking a few feet away. But we were told it was free and no charges would be made to our card! Just be on the look out! Their eagerness to refund made me think they know what they’re doing is wrong!

Wonderful property - highly recommend a stay! In addition, we would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Colby Copeland for his excellent customer service. As soon as we walked thru the front door, Mr. Copeland greeted and welcomed us to the Hilton. Check-in went quickly and it was nice he explained the hotel amenities, parking, hotel restaurant, breakfast options, and offered us suggestions on restaurants and sites around the city worth visiting.
The Hilton Garden Inn itself is conveniently located to several restaurants, parking is secure and located in a large area in the front of the hotel and visible from your room, next door to the Red Mountain Theater and children’s hospital. The hotel is extremely clean, maid service was prompt, and the on-site restaurant and bar was a nice option. We enjoyed a meal before the theater and drinks following - bartender was very friendly, food was tasty, and the service was quick.
As a Hilton Honors member and frequent traveler, staying in hotels is always special when the reception and the staff are professional and attentive to your needs - as was the case with Mr. Copeland. Couple the exceptional customer service with a clean hotel and your trip is so much more pleasant. Thank you Hilton Garden Inn - Downtown Birmingham!
Rooms: Exceptionally clean and fresh.
Nearby activities: With a one mile radius of multiple touristic places like Art museum, theaters, sports fields, university, etc.
Safety: Parking area and hotel is very well lit in the evenings.

Came in at 3pm to check in after travelling for 5 hours with 1 kid and 2 toddlers. We were told our room wasn't ready, so we decided to wait in the common area (which is really nice) especially since the weather was iffy. At 4 when we went to get our room, we were told our room wasn't available and they couldn't give us a time. We asked to be called, so we could get our kids some food. We were called a Lil passes 5pm. This is innacceptable. At 3pm, when we came, I feel like a common service would have been to make sure our room was ready by 4pm.
Customer service 0.

It was nice. My gf was the only bad part about it. I literally spent more time with the woman at front desk than I did with gf.

I stayed at this hotel for 7 days, it wasn’t till I left that I realized I have sever bed bug bites, my legs back and neck was covered in bites. When I called Hilton they said the hotel is not able to resolve the issue and closed my case. As a diamond member I cannot believe how they brushed this off. I’m concerned about the people staying there next. I stayed in room 228. I don’t recommend staying here and especially in that room. This has been my worst case in any hotel as I travel for work. I can’t believe that that’s the Hilton policy and procedures. Red alert for sure and looks bad for the whole company.
Rooms: Had bed bugs stayed in room 228
