This mansion takes you back in time for real. I appreciate the owner attention to details and preserve the old with a touch of modern needs: frim house decor to outside gazebo. The breakfast is just lovely presented, sit down and you'll be served. They do cater dietary needs.
Rooms: Rooms are just as described and there's historic facts you can read about and pictures all over. You can feel a bit Scarlett O'Hara -ish

There's a lot to like about this bed and breakfast. The people are generally very friendly and we found Shiela, the owner, to be pleasant and accommodating, but there are some limitations inherent to the age of the structure. Other issues are simply oversight, laziness, or lack of concern.
First, the Garden View room is well appointed and beautifully decorated, however one of the major selling points is that it has a kitchenette. This turned out to be less useful than anticipated given that upon entering it only contained one plate, one fork, one glass, and one knife so dull that I could not cut through a lime with it. There were no means by which to clean anything that I dirtied and no towels to dry my hands with. Most of this was readily remedied upon request, but these are easily things that should be available in the room at all times.
Even though the sun rises on the other side of the house the light coming through the windows will wake you up early in the morning. The drapes are not able to be completely closed to block the sun as far as I can tell. The bathtub is self-standing and as such has multiple shower curtains around the perimeter for use as a shower. In practice this means that you will never be able to stand in the shower without continuously touching the shower curtain as so many others have done before you. If you have mobility issues this bathtub is a hazard for you. Towels will be replaced everyday if you throw them on the floor after use, but the majority are stained and unattractive as well as small.
Cleanliness is a bit of an issue as I believe that it is rushed through. I happened to spill salt on the floor from a bag of pretzels one day and it was never cleaned up. I'm not sure when or if the sheets are changed even though the beds are made because some telltale stains are visible on multiple days. Dust in the corners and on top of furniture is prevalent.
Breakfasts were decent if unremarkable. I've stayed in many places where the effort is made to have something entirely different every day, but here it is fairly pedestrian if consistent.
Parking is very tight. Shiela saved us a spot with a traffic come one night when we returned late, which was much appreciated.
Other nearby hotels have more modern design, better cleanliness, similar breakfasts and amenities such as a swimming pool. This is a reasonable place to stay but they do have multiple ways in which they can improve. With so much potential I hope that they do and that they continue to grow in the future. If quaint is your thing, this is your place.

The old house is beautiful, luxurious, noble and polite. Staying here you will enjoy the old aristocratic style of the American people. Very great experience

This house takes you back in time, every single detail is made with love. The woman who runs this house is truly creative. The best customer service I’ve ever experienced. I have the most respect for the historic preservation and feel of this home, thank you.

I've stayed in 3 of the rooms in the mansion now and they have all been wonderful. You won't find a better breakfast at any hotel in the area.

Exceptional place and location.
My only regret is not staying longer.
Sheila the host is amazing. She will place you at the very top of her priority.
I will gladly be returning in the near future.
Walkability: Center of downtown… it doesn’t get any better than that.

We absolutely loved our stay! The Seraphim room was cozy and comfortable, perfect for the 2 of us. The room and entire facility is very clean. The antiques and furnishings are beautiful! Truly a unique and historic place to stay. Breakfast was lovely and we met really nice people. And really enjoyed Sheila’s stories! Although our room was on the street, traffic was quiet after 10 or 11 (I also have a white noise app I use when traveling). I highly recommend Hassinger and would stay again!
Rooms: Comfortable beds, hot shower with great water pressure.
Walkability: Several restaurants within walking distance. Also, less than 1.5 miles from downtown district with lots of restaurant options (El Barrio and Cafe Zaza were our favorites).
Food & drinks: Lovely breakfast and good coffee. They also have a communal refrigerator for guest food storage and they have some complimentary water and sodas for guests.

I really need #Googlemaps to create a 6 out of 5 button so I can rate this place ??
I love to tour old mansions and I have visited several mansions on the east coast, but this was my first time 'staying in one', so the experience was terrific ??? the mansion is well maintained, the host was superb, and the breakfast was delicious ?
I made great memories in this house and if I ever come back to Birmingham, I won't hesitate to stay here again ? I definitely recommend this place ??
P.S. I stayed in the Victorian Chamber. It's located on the first floor and it was very spacious.

Communication with the accommodation staff was frustrating. We attempted to address our concerns and request assistance, but our emails and calls went unanswered. It was as if they had no interest in ensuring a pleasant stay for their guests.I strongly discourage any traveller from considering this accommodation as an option. It was a dreadful experience, and the level of unprofessionalism exhibited was inexcusable. When you're away from home, you should be able to rely on your accommodation for a comfortable and safe environment, but this particular place fell far short of that standard.
