A great service, a great help! Slow communication on Pet Pantry side. Seems like understaffing may be an issue. Would love to see them get more funding.

Great place to adopt cats or dogs. I went in looking for a kitten and there were many to choose from. Everyone was helpful and kind.

I would like to apologize I recently left a review at a time when I was very upset and should not have left my review without having a cool head. My experience and there was kind of upsetting to me at the time because I felt like they didn't care but after a cool down I realized that they're doing their jobs and they have more animals than any person could ever imagine come through I'm sure and I'm sure everybody their does their best to be of service to these animals so thank you so much

A 2 week old kitten was dumped on my front porch. I called GBHS and within a few hours they sent someone out to get him. The officer was so nice and seemed to really care about the welfare of the kitten. Thank you for the great service you provide to the Greater Birmingham Area.

I think her name was Madison. If I’m not mistaken she is a manager. But regardless she was super rude to the people who came in to adopt an animal. You would think that when people are coming in too save an animals life or get it a great home the management would be grateful, but no. I saw madison come up to multiple customers and she was extremely rude. They NEED to do something about her.

Very unfriendy and unhelpful when we brought a dog found along the road. They couldn't take her due to jurisdiction, which I understand, but they could not have cared less about the situation. We were from out of town and everything from the sheriff's office to animal control were closed.

After attempting to adopt a kitten that was listed as available on their website, I then visited the location and tried to get paperwork started, but once arrived, I was informed that the cat that I wanted was being transferred. However, it was not just only available on the website, but also at the specific location. I was informed that I could not have the information as to where it was going or for them to even try to have the common courtesy to reach out to that shelter to ask if I could just adopt the cat that was already in house . This was very personal as I connected with this kitten and unfortunately was not able to take it home. Once a worker came and noticed that the cat had not been “pulled off the floor fast enough”, she then
saw that I was holding the cat and asked for it out of my hands to remove it from everyone’s view. It was very disappointing to say the least and also discouraging moving forward in regards to adopting any animal here. I think more could’ve been done in regards to this situation and how to handle it rather than being so harsh and offering no other solution. I think if the opportunity to find out where this kitten was being transported was relayed, I could then maybe understand more however not only will they not let you adopt the cats, but they will NOT tell you where it’s going if you did decide you wanted to follow it in order to adopt it. Once again if I could give zero stars, I would. I am very disappointed with this in this experience and even more disappointed because as hard as it is to form a connection with an animal and then once you try to adopt it to be told no and that there’s “nothing” they can do about it when there is and they just won’t. If the opportunity were presented to still adopt this sweet boy I would take it. Hopefully someone from corporate or with a decent heart will reach out.

I decided I was ready for a cat again after a lot of years on my own. The facility was clean and the staff very helpful.
