During a recent visit to the ER for shortness of breath, I was fortunate to receive prompt and appropriate care from the medical team, who showed significant concern for my condition. The ER doctor recommended that I be admitted to the hospital. In addition to my breathing issues, I was experiencing severe ear pain and facial numbness along my jawline, and I repeatedly requested a consultation with an ENT specialist. This request was made while I was still in the ER awaiting a room.
Throughout the day, I received breathing treatments, high-dose antibiotics, and IV steroids, which helped improve my respiratory condition. However, my ear pain and facial numbness worsened, leading to swelling around my ear and neck. Despite multiple requests, I was denied a consult with an ENT. Later that evening, as the pain increased, I requested to see the hospitalist, but they never came.
The following morning, the admitting hospitalist arrived with discharge orders but mentioned that a CT scan would be performed and that a consultation with an ENT might follow. After waiting an additional eight hours, my pain worsened, and I still had not received any updates from the medical team. I asked to speak with the house supervisor. Instead of addressing my concerns, the nurse returned with pain medication and informed me that the doctor had already initiated my discharge.
Taking matters into my own hands, I contacted an ENT office and was able to be seen the next morning. Unfortunately, I am now experiencing significant hearing loss and balance issues. Much of this could have been prevented with a timely diagnosis and earlier intervention.

Everyone was very nice. My only issue was that I had the first appointment (7am) and arrived at 6:50. I waited until 7:40 to begin my procedure which only took 10 minutes.

From the beginning to the end I received top tier care. My nurses Thad and Emily were the best nurses I have ever come across! However everyone was so friendly and helpful: custodian, dietary staff, physical therapist, etc. My ONLY complaint is that my bed was not working properly so it was hard for me to get comfortable.
