WORST AFRICAN SHOP IN BIRMINGHAM!!!! I called and was told to come in at 5 in the evening to get some Senegalese twists. Get there at 430 and my hair was never touched till 10 that night. (So I sat 5 hold hours befor getting serviced) At 1am in the morning the lady asked me to pay... 250 dollars... I stated since it was and inconvenience on you all behalf I'll pay 200 dollars and just come back in the morning(NOT STATING THAT ILL HAVE TO CALL OFF WORK) This lady tried to lock me in the shop not wanting the 200 dollars. I had to call the police and the manager to get my issue resolved. The shop was nasty. They never ask if I wanted a drink of water or nunthing THE WORST SHOP IN BIRMINGHAM. BAD BUSINESS PERIOD. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE PERIOD. Whish I could've got pictures of the batroom??

I love my hair so much ! I had to leave a comment. My appointment was at 9 am for Knotles braids I got there 10 minutes late which Aissa was fine with it . Aissa braided my hair in less then 6 hours and I loved the work and the vibe of theShop. I will definitely be back and recommend her

All of the bad reviews are absolutely true. They are not at all considerate of their customers time and money. They expect full payment but inconsistent with service. I started going here b/c of so many good things I heard about Aissa and the shop was closer to my new home than Jamilah's on 3rd Ave. I will definitely bypass this shop and go back to Jamilah's.I went the day before to set up my appointment. Arrived the next day on time but braider was not there. There was actually 3 of us that were on time for our appointment but no braiders were there ready to service us. Sat almost an hour before someone got started on my hair. I always get Senegalese and pay 180.00 for the same length. This time after waiting an hour for someone to start on my hair, being left unattended without any explanation, and being there for 11hrs; I was told that my fee was 200.00 and that a lot of shops are not doing them anymore because of timing which is a lie. I have never sat longer than 5-6 hrs at Jamilah's with the same thick long hair that I have now. The ladies at Aissa's shop definitely needs to work on customer courtesy and professionalism.Service: Twist braids

My husband, kids, and I are just here for work currently but I was looking for a location specializing in natural hair. I called in to request a protective style this morning and was told to come on in, upon arrival I was appointed to the older lady at the front of the entrance. She allowed me to select my color choice and proceeded to inquire about the sizing I was interested in today, as a licensed cosmetologist myself, I understand that opinion of sizing can vary from person to person so I showed her a picture of what I was requesting just to ensure we were on the same page. Services began and she began parting, I touched the section and felt it was rather thick for the size that I requested, so I again asked her AND verified with a picture as reference. In that moment, She immediately began talking over me loudly, letting me know that she had to be in Atlanta for 4 & that she was incapable of doing my desired size. I reminded her that what I requested was what she AGREED upon prior to me arriving, and she proceeded to speak a different language while walking away from me and reiterating that not only did she suddenly not have the time to do it but she wasn't comfortable doing any services for me. Mind you, I let her know PRIOR to getting there what services I requested AND that I was literally 30-40 mins away from her. So to get dropped off, and have to have my husband come right back is the epitome of UNPROFESSIONALISM, INCONSIDERATE, AND RUDE. She continued to speak another language from the back of the building while the other 2 braiders who were in the front chimed in as well. The whole ordeal was confusing and not only did I not know what they were saying, she never walked back to the front to speak with me personally. I would definitely recommend DIVA AFRICAN BRAID & STYLE company whom reached right back out to me once I explained what was going on and my experiences. Ironically, I end this review ecstatic that I didn't give them my hard earned money and ultimately just went somewhere with the eagerness to provide me with exceptional results and great customer service.

My overall experience was good. The women of the shop were very friendly. When I came in I had to wait a while (20-30 minutes) but I was a walk in (same day appointment-I called in before I came) so that wasn't a big issue. My hair came out pretty and neatly done but not what I wanted. So I would recommend but make sure you pay close attention to what's being done to your hair (I have knotless braids in the front and box braids in the middle).
