We had a very good stay at red roof. The rooms were clean and the lady at the front desk was super nice and accommodating. We will be going back.

upon arrival, there was no one at the front desk. Waited 5 minutes and started knocking a asking loudly if anyone was there. Finally, i got loud enough to get some help checking in. WiFi password was presented in all caps yet it was all in lowercase. Figured it out but a call to the front desk went unanswered. Ran an internet speed test and it was bad, which explains the not so smart TV. Wall outlets were scarce. No thermostat. The AC pulled from an old school Heat and air unit by the window. Didn’t cool the room well. Bathroom mirror was nice. Great access to green space outside the first floor side doors. but overall, the hotel was not up to speed with the irondale location. will not return.

Booked two king-size rooms, three months in advance. We called the day of the reservation to see what time we could check in. The hotel denied our reservations. We then provided our name and both confirmation numbers— still denies the reservations. They were also very rude, told us they were booked and unable to accommodate us. Leaving us in Tuscaloosa with nowhere to stay and trying to find last-minute accommodations. They also charged us a cancellation fee. We booked through Expedia and just so you know you have to again contact the hotel to get this charge returned. When I contacted the hotel to discuss this, they denied having charged us , even though I showed them the charge on my bank statement. During all of this process, we were also hung up on multiple times, and told multiple stories, they were experiencing computer issues, contact them another day as the manager was not in, all sorts of other things. A huge run around— that never leads anywhere. We are currently dealing with a bank dispute to try to get our money back. This place is a huge scam!!!!!

Hallway reeked of pot. Key hardly worked. Housekeeping knocked once and barged in without waiting for an answer and asked if I was checking out before the checkout time. Rude owners. They only took out the trash and gave new towels that were slightly damp. No breakfast served. Air conditioner and fridge barely kept anything cold. Elevators got stuck and had to use the stairs, just to get a mean look from the owner. Glad to not have to go there anymore.

I reserved this hotel through a 3rd party website for 2 different weekends. When we arrived to check in, the front desk clerk stated our reservation had been canceled (for both weekends). She was unable to identify why it had been canceled. I was never notified of the cancelation. The 3rd party website also called, as the reservation remained active on their site. Still no resolution, unless I booked directly with hotel at a higher rate. Fast forward to the next day and I attempted to meet with a manager without success. The 3rd party website called again to inquire about the cancelation and they lied, stating I had checked in after midnight. (Phone records proved I was on site before midnight.) We checked out immediately following this incident. I will never support a business that cancels your reservation and lies.Hotel was very basic. Hotel had been renovated (different flooring, paint, etc) but must have been done on a very low budget. Beds and bathroom appeared clean.Rooms: Rooms were very basic, but did appear clean. Pillows were awful, very cheap.Noteworthy details: Will cancel your reservation through 3rd party websites, especially during peak wkd/dates.

We checked in with no major issues. We did notice that the smaller gentleman (who seemed to be in charge) was clocking our entrance by following us to the elevator and creeping. We let that slide. Got to our room with 2 king beds... nice and spacious. Not enough towels but hey...we can ask for more right? No major concerns BUT BUT BUT...the small Indian woman called my son stupid because he was playing in the hallway and it pissed her off. I can't imagine why this would be ok. We went to confront her and she hid from us. The small guy emerged again to say that it was all my kids fault for playing. I DID get on my kid BUT I still can't figure out how it's ok to call a 10 year old stupid. The feeling is low key harassment. As we were asking for the lady's whereabouts, the black lady was mortified about the situation. She was overwhelmed because the owners JUST called the police on another guest. Quality of the room, I would give 7/10. Attitude and demeanor of the small Indian woman and man 0/10. The lady is an undercover bully. Don't call my child...talk to me. And please don't respond saying you are disheartened because you already know how the folks running the facility are. They need to go. There is a reason the reservation is nonrefundable. Yall already know THEY are the ones causing issues but you don't wanna lose money. AND.... if you, as a guest, try to hold them accountable, they'll call the cops and try to put you out. AGAIN, if you can get past the racial undertones or their actions, it's a great place to stay. I'm not sure I'd risk it again. In fact... there are several other hotels in that same complex and in suite their staff has been trained on managing "conflicts".... even though that wasn't a conflict. Just tell him to stop BUT DON'T CALL HIM STUPID!!

I booked a room at the Red roof Inn at 4985 Academy Court Bessemer, AL hotel for the parent’s football weekend in Tuscaloosa, AL. On the Monday before the game a received a phone call from the hotel manager advising me that the hotel was apparently overbooked and they asked if I wanted to cancel my reservation because they only had a one bedroom King and not the 2 queens that I booked. I advised the person on the phone that I wished to keep my reservation although I would have preferred that they honored the original reservation for three people (my wife, son and me). Shortly thereafter I received an email that my reservation had been cancelled. This is a quite foul and dishonorable business practice. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The GM here is very rude…when you enter the hotel it smell like complete smoke!!! They are not professional at all…they all have nasty attitudes…the bed sheets are dingy…water pressure in the shower is horrible..so I will not recommend this hotel to stay for

Oh, Lord -- where to begin??? Key wouldn't work at check-in. Reprogrammed keys wouldn't work. When "master key" worked and room was opened, it reeked of cigarettes; had to get a different room. Bathroom linens were stained, worn, torn, or a combination of the three. The only operational ice maker was on the 1st floor (2nd didn't work at all, 3rd appeared to be functioning, but gave no ice). Pool was closed (no mention of this on website). Housekeeping was hit-or-miss on effectiveness. There was only ONE tiny trash can. Ice bucket didn't have a lid. The quality of the hand soap in the dispenser by the sink was terrible. The quality of the body wash in the shower's dispenser was abysmal. No facial tissues & no replacement toilet paper roll; roll was never replaced after a 4 day stay. Lastly -- the hotel seems to be either newly constructed or recently renovated. HOWEVER -- it is in disrepair ALL OVER; chipped paint, torn silicone, doors that took LOTS of effort to close/open. I would NEVER stay here again.Noteworthy details: Stay somewhere else!!!

Several issues. Door to room was hung crooked leaving one inch gap at the bottom. You can see our and anyone can see in. The bed frame was busted. In the Shower, the showerhead wasn't attached to the wall. The toilet - had wrong type of seat for type of bowl. They had oblong seat sitting on round bowl. Pieces of flooring missing near bathroom. Lampshades were dented and dirty. There was no mirror in the room (only the bathroom has a mirror). Their lobby sucks. It is about as uninviting as you can get. Just a stark white area with a check in counter. Definitely a not-gonna-stay-here -again kind of placeNoteworthy details: Do not stay here

BEDBUGS AND SILVERFISH!!! Not to mention their cheap furniture tried to kill me and forget about a refund! Your room could be on fire when you first walk in:No Refunds!! Check your room first!!! Better still, don't check in!!

The bathroom was clean and updated. It’s time for new linens and curtains. Bed linens were well worn. Towels dingy and worn. The curtains were stained and nasty. Floors felt dirty. Wore my shoes. Felt damp. Should’ve been a better hotel for $135.00/night.
