We’ve had so many instances of incompetence from Dr. Wester and the staff in general, from lost paperwork, to sending referrals to the wrong department, and even just not responding to other healthcare providers when contacted about my child. As if that wasn’t enough, Dr. Margaret Wester even tried to gaslight me about my own child when explaining symptoms and expressing concern. Every other medical professional he has seen confirmed my suspicions, but she flat out told me “that’s normal”. Then instead of asking if we’d like outpatient therapy or home therapy she immediately referred us to early intervention which is a service that comes to your home and provides education for the family- not direct therapy to the child, at a max of twice a month. We brought records from our previous doctor that shows he was receiving outpatient therapy once a week. And I STILL had to double back to her on three separate occasions and ask for outpatient therapy for each discipline! This is a horrible practice. I’m just brushing the surface. The staff is overall rude except for a few people. I have even caught the staff in blatant lies over simple things! I should have known by our first experience when our 18 month old twins were crying over getting shots(a baby crying over shots, shocking right?!) and the staff just stared at them and us like it was a foreign sight to see. But I still gave them chance after chance and it was a nightmare the entire time. Do yourself a favor and find a better primary practice.

I loved my children physician. Dr. Prejean is amazing, she listen to my concerns and always take good care of them. I wouldn't anybody else beside the doctors here..

We have been seeing Dr Abby Allen here for years. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and always does a great job with my kids. Giving four stars due to office staff not being very friendly most of the time, but the wonderful doctors make it worth it.

We just moved to Alabama a few months ago. All the staff was welcoming and helpful in getting past medical records for my kids and setting up necessary referrals for my disabled child. Love Dr. Wester. She is very kind. The whole office is great.

First visit to this office, Dr. Wester is great with listening to our concerns. Medical staffs are also nice and attentive. I only gave 4 stars because the front office is not very welcoming knowing that it is a pediatric office.

My children have been going to the doctors office for about a year now. Well today, I made an appointment for my son to get seen because of a rash on his face and his right foot (he won’t keep any shoes on his right foot). His dr was full so I was told that he would see Dr.Pickens. She literally came in the room, looked at him, asked questions about his rash and said she would prescribe hydrocortisone. Then she told me that his foot look fine but she doesn’t have time to examine it because she’s backed up on patients and just to follow up with his dr, which is Dr. I was so shocked because how can you say that you DONT HAVE TIME

My kids have been coming to this office since 2017. We love Dr Pickens and her staff but if you’re scheduling an 8am patient why have them here 10-15 mins early if you don’t open the doors until 8am. I’m only saying something because this is not the first time we’ve experienced this. Thank you keep up the good work!

The doctors and nursing staff are wonderful, but the last few times we’ve had to call for an appointment the same rude lady has answered. She is very unprofessional and nasty in how she talks to people. I dread having to call for anything knowing I’m going to end up with her answering.

Love Dr Pickens & all the nurses and medical staff. But the desk clerks are not very friendly. After you get out of the waiting room.. everything usually goes smoothly.

the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude and cut me off as i was speaking , i didnt even get to finish with my statement when she cut me off and hung up. very unprofessional and unfriendly

Dr. Allen never believed something was wrong with me. I am now 20 but when I was in middle school I would have horrible headaches, dizziness, thirsty all of the time, had to use the restroom constantly, and I would get very shaky. I was only in middle school and did not know a lot about anxiety disorders so I never thought that could be wrong with me. Dr. Allen would always tell me “these are normal headaches” and I had asked her “could it be diabetes?” And she told me “if you had diabetes, you would be dead by now”. Due to this experience, from there on out I would still have these symptoms but would never want to go to the doctor because I felt they would never believe me. Finally, at 19 years old, my hand was shaking uncontrollably. I took a video of it because I did NOT want to ever be dismissed like this again. I went to Cahaba Medical Care and Katy Miller, an NP actually listened. She diagnosed me with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I have been suffering from this since around 5th grade. My anxiety had just kept getting worse throughout those years. I feel much better now that I have the PROPER HELP. If your child is complaining about these issues, do NOT go to Dr. Allen.
