I as there last week for a random abscess. The pain was horrible. The wait wasn't overly long, compared to other facilities. The staff were all phenomenal, quick, and took great care of me. The new building is gorgeous as well!

Took my husband to ER due to injury to knee and back. He wasn’t unable to sit up but lay sideways in wheelchair. We waited a couple of hours and finally got a room. It wasn’t even a room. It was like a small waiting room with no bed. He needed somewhere to lay down and was made to sit in a wheelchair in excruciating pain for hours. Never got to a bed was sent home with pain meds. It was awful. I have had this bad of experience there before.

Idk why I'm seeing so many bad reviews. I was well pleased with the entire staff during my visit. Everyone was courteous and had pleasant attitudes and I didn't wait no time to be seen. In and out at a good time. I almost didn't come to this location because of the previous reviews, but I'm so glad I took the time to find out for myself. Job well done staff. Please keep up the good work. By the way I felt really comfortable around everyone and that speak volumes.

I came to the ER due to a BAD flare up of my autoimmune condition. Dr.Herring William put in an order for me to have blood drawn for labs and for me to receive steroids. Out of ALL my frequent ER visits due me having flare ups, He's the 1st doctor to order for me to receive steroids through an IV. Which I'm VERY THANKFUL for because the steroid being administered that way REALLY WORKED A LOT QUICKER than getting a steroid shots I've had in my previous visits at this hospital or at any other doctors I've went to. So the only reason I'm giving this ER a 4 star review is because after Dr.Herring William told me that he's going to order for my steroid to be given by IV, a paramedic came in to draw my blood. So when I realized that the pandemic wasn't going to use a needle with an IV port, I told him what the Dr.Herring said about how my steroid will be administer. Then he replied that my nurse asked him to JUST draw my blood and that I wil receive my steroid by shot. Well when my nurse came in she said, that she's going to give me a steroid shot but she quickly realized that Dr.Herring ordered for it to be given through my IV. As she was resticking me, I screamed and told her that she blew my vein but she kept going until she realized I was right, that she blew my vein. So I asked her, would she PLEASE go get the paramedic man that stuck me the 1st time because I know I have small veins that rolls on top of me NOT liking needles. She agreed, but ended up sending in an LPN who was able to insert my IV on his very 1st try. So I want to THANK Dr.Herring for administering my steroid via IV. I also want to THANK the nurse I had for listening and respecting my request to have someone else to do my IV & I also thank the paramedic guy & the LPN guy for helping to make sure that my labs would be done.

Service was acceptable. But I got a huge bill 3 months later from a collections agency, despite having otherwise great insurance. I should have just driven to UAB like I started to. I would have had a much smaller bill and better care.

Came in because I had been cold sweating over the entire weekend, cols sweats in my hands and feet and woke up drenched in sweat with some pretty severe back pain. I told the doc my symptoms and where my lower back hurt and he was IMMEDIATELY off put and then had the audacity to ask me if I use IV drugs?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! Never even seen the guy before. He should be ashamed of himself. I'm stuck here now, but that's just disgusting bedside manner. Especially when I've been waiting all weekend to make sure thus was hospital-worthy. Ew.

The worst healthcare in the Birmingham area. We arrive at least twenty minutes early and are left waiting after our appointment start time with no explanation. These people obviously do not value your time.

This hospital is an absolute nightmare! I can't fathom why they're even in business. After making me wait for over six agonizing months for my appointment, they casually cancel it with no explanation whatsoever. I'm told the doctor won't be available on that day—then why the hell did they make me endure six months of anticipation? When I had the audacity to call them back, they had the nerve to inform me that there's not a single doctor available within the VIVA UAB system for the next 12 months. We're shelling out hundreds of dollars each month for VIVA UAB, and what do we get? Medical West playing a cruel joke on us with no available doctors for the next year. It's beyond infuriating – what a pathetic excuse for a healthcare service!
