2005 gmc canyon rebuilt at 187k. Now back out at 222k. It gone me down the road for another 35k. Now dtc for mechanical component slipping. Fluid looks OK and is at the right level. I drove the truck real easy because I was always scared it would go out again... it did anyway.

We had a major breakdown with our F350. We were towed to Smith Transmission in Athens, AL.
We are not from the area. We didn't know if they would be trustworthy, but they treated us the same as our own hometown mechanic, if not better.
It's refreshing to know there ARE honest mechanics shops, especially when an expensive breakdown occurs while traveling.
Towed in Monday afternoon and picked up that Thursday late day. THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for working us in and getting us back on the road.

Me smith and his receptors where very nice and customer service people. You can go there at 9am and 4 pm and get free diagnostic on your vehicle, it def got our business!!!

I give them a 3 star only bc they kept my truck for 5 weeks but they are short of help. Knox the front desk he worked with me and fairly kept me updated but did hold true to his word. Took truck there first time and they put a new torque converter in had my truck for almost 3 weeks got it back was making a noise which the warranty was gonna cover it of course ended up taking it back for the 2nd time and yea my truck set for 4 weeks before they touched it. Again they were lack of help. Noise is still there but they tell me it’s coming from rear end. So we’ll see. I think if they had more help they would be better and be able to take there time a little more. Im sure with all the trucks I seen sitting there they are rushed. Good luck guys.

I had them do a complete rebuild on my transmission in my silverado and it ended up going out a little over a year later with about 15k miles on the work. I took it back a second time and had them repair it not under warranty and it goes out again with the same problem around 17k miles.Service: Transmission

I was headed to Panama City Beach Florida from home near Chicago il . We stopped at Chevy dealership in Matoon il because my Silverado started having a pulsing vibration that sounded like rear end or transmission noise! They told me it was suspension noise and said I was ok to keep driving! We made it to Athens Alabama where I lost all transmission functions. I found Smith transmission on internet and they had some good reviews. I called and talked to a gentleman named Pete that was very knowledgeable about the problems I was having and told me since I was from out of town and stuck they would get me in right away on Monday and could finish by Thursday! Pete and all the guys in shop went above and beyond to take good care of me and get me back on the road! Pete even gave me his personal number and came in on Saturday when they were closed so I could pick up my truck on way home. I got right in and drove 10 hours back home with no issues!!
